Austrian peas...when do they make the pea?

No-Tox

5 year old buck +
I had planted a mix of cereal grains and Austrian peas on the first weekend of Sept. right before a rain. Got good germinate but hardly any rain during Sept. Been getting some showers here and there recently. Everything is green with good growth.
However, I don't see any pea production. What's the typical time frame for them to produce?
Here are some pics from our hunt on Saturday that you can see everything green.

Super nice pics,.. Thank you !

Great buck! Congrats! My peas have never made it to maturity, I am no help for your question.

Congrats!

If they dont get over browsed by deer they will put on pods next year. They are a winter grain so they need to over winter just like rye or wheat.

I didnt know that they had to over winter. Guess that answers my question.

No-Tox,

Nice plot there, how did you plant?

Sprayed Gly. Then next weekend I disc, broadcast peas and disc that in. Broadcast cereal grains (winter rye and wheat) and went over with a drag.

I can't keep anything going into the spring as the bottoms flood during the spring/early summer.

You just had to throw the buck laying in the plot pic in there! Lol. Congrats on the buck!

Humble brag...lol
It is the most recent pics of the food plot I had to show that it's not in stress.

I commented on the other site....but they look good. You will find that the deer will pick thru your plot looking for the peas first and eventually you will be like "where are all the pea plants"? if they survive the browsing and the winter they will grow again come spring and flower and produce pods then.... Many folks consider winter peas a deer candy because most places have enough deer that they peas never make it until spring and thus are a small window food source, some place the deer wipe them out as soon as they sprout.
