    Shuwater hybrid oaks

Fyi Native Nursuries has them on sale. Put in the code qdma for an extra 10% off. I got 6 of them for $31 and some change. This oak had growth rates similar to a sawtooth for me prior to the flooding last year setting it back. Your results may very.

    Dogwood control

My property has some dense areas of rough leaf dogwood. I would like to take more of the property back converting it to native grasses. Currently the dogwood thickets harbor elm, hedge, locust, cedar, etc shielding them from fire. I have been on my knees in these thickets cutting the dogwood...

    Tire shops

Opinions. We leave for Galveston thursday which is 12 hours one way. I have been using a locally owned small tire shop since I moved here. Other local folks around dont like them but its him or Quicklane at the ford dealer. 2 weeks ago they fixed my tire pressure sensor in my truck. Its my...

    Leaving a stand hanging

Ive got a Millenium treestand hanging in a big elm. Its my #1 stand. The last 3 years I have pulled it by now. I rehang in the same tree in late August. A buddy recommended pulling the safety line since squirrels like them and leaving the stand up. Milleniums use a chain so I would pull the...

    Kansas 9 point

Ive got some of it posted in the live stand thread but will cover the whole story. Flooding really screwed my place through the summer. As such I had little deer use. I lost a doe really early that made me sick and had me ready to give up. Guys here said to keep practicing and keep at it...

Kansas goes to 1 spring bird

The vote was a month ago. One spring bird for this upcoming season. Applies to NE, SE, and SC kansas. Fall season vote was quite contentious. Biologist wanted to close it. NWTF folks stood up siding with the biologist. One commissioner is a big fall hunter. He proposed to cut it to 40 days...

    New pup

Same breeder but different parents as our other dog. Shorty was born with an injured tail that ultimately led to losing part of it. As a result nobody wanted her. We negotiated roughly 1/2 price with no breeding rights. I was outvoted by the rest of the family. I wasnt ready for another dog.

    Plug in neutral question

The panel I got for my shop says it is "plug in neutral ready". Research shows this makes it easier for Arc fault and gfi breakers. It included 3 20 amp 1 pole breakers and 2 30 amp 2 pole breakers. They look like normal breakers to me. Can I run regular 20 amp 1 pole breakers in this box?

    Disheartening

Water has receded enough I can finally get to most of the trees. There are still 30ish that I cant get to. I am sure they are toast. Mortality is going to be close to 95 percent. I have 3 pin oaks, 4 deer pear, 1 shuwater hybrid, 8 persimmons, and 4 sawtooths that made it. None of my shumards...

    Day lily

Anybody successfully done battle with these SOBs? I hit them with gly and they barely turned but the grass on the periphery is going brown. They have totally colonized the road ditch and spread under all my plum thickets so that nothing uses them.

    First deer back...finally

I got lucky and had this brute walk by the 2nd time I ever sat in a treestand. It was the first buck from our property since we bought it 3 years earlier. That was 2016. It took forever at the first taxidermist who ended up getting divorced and I didnt know if I would ever see it again. Cape was...
