Why? Sensitive to sensitivity.

I am not sure where I am going with this, but.....

I had a stealthcam deceptor covering a road and it was about as good as I could ask for. Very little was missed while also very little garbage. Well it got zapped by lightning or something, burned up inside. Replaced it with a Reactor. Well the reactor is just that, reacts to everything, nothing but garbage. It is only running three hours a day with an hour pause between detection. Might as well be off.

So I get a new Deceptor max 2.0 whatever. It behaves a lot like the reactor. 90% garbage photos. It clicked off 100 photos between the time I put it up and got to checking it in the app.

But stealth is not alone. After my gen 3 update I have 3 L series cuddes out of 20 that are now just clicking away at the slightest breeze. Did some trimming which seemed to help, but they do seem more sensitive after the update. These just so happen to be my most critical cameras.

I'm am thing of making masks for IR sensors that narrows the FOV?

A lot of the cams I've had have a sensitivity setting. I'm guessing you've played with that?

Yes, I need to play with it on the cuddes since the gen3 though. I learned not to touch on the gen2, and never needed to.

I turned the stealth Deceptor to low, and it's much improved but nothing like my first Deceptor. There is a branch that needs to come down on that one, hopefully it helps. But the reactor has nothing in front of it but road. It's never been worth a crap. I think it's design for wide open fields with bare ground.

Well sob, I just checked one of the problem cuddes and it was set to high1. I thought everything was set to optimal.

So cudde is off the hook and I can focus on stealths.

The "deceptor" seems to be shaping up. I seem to be getting less garbage now. I am not sure if maybe just the wind is less or if it has some sort of adaptive sensitivity or delay like cuddebacks.

The reactor is still a pile of hud during the daytime. I guess the name fits.

I bought a Deceptor Max last November after a buddy said he liked them over Reconyx. It shoots more blanks in a day than Reconyx shoots in months. I set the sensitivity to low and still shoots at will. Just sent it back to Stealthcam and will be selling the replacement.

Ironic..... as one of the few complaints I have had about Cuddeback L series cameras is that they let things slip by without taking a picture. LOL
I do have a camera now that randomly seems to take 2-3 pictures a day of nothing, but there is alot of different vegetation types in the field of view and maybe the sun is hitting just right or maybe a bird flies by. I am not sure but definitely not enough for me to worry about. I have had a couple different camera models in the past that took 100s of pictures of vegetation blowing in the wind.

Last year I had a cuddelink mounted within site of my main stand, was getting alot of false pics. Turned out to be a squirrel nest in that tree, and they liked to sit on the cam, triggering a bunch of false pics. Next hunt I brought a beanie flip and some ball bearings, and had some fun.
Worked pretty good, surprisingly accurate from 20 yds. Tried it on the occasional cow that wanders in my area, but it didn't move them at all.

Before i went all in with cuddelink, I was a stealth cam fan, and still have 4 that work fine to this day. I also knew the cuddelinks were missing pics, due to seeing turkeys go by the cam, w/ no pics taken. Put a cheapo stealth cam next to the cuddelink to see a comparison. I confirmed the stealthcam was getting some pics that cudde wasn't. Wasn't a lot, but it still happened. The cudde cams were only a couple of years old at that point, but I went ahead and changed the fresnel lens. After that, i didn't seem to miss as many pics.
