Who drives to their stand?

Have a link to the one you have? This sounds like a fantastic idea if it works.

This is pretty similar to the one I use: https://sci-supply.com/green-laser-pointer-532nm-range-to-3-000-ft/. The one I bought is no longer sold on Amazon. I went with green because reviews said it was brighter, but if I had my choice, I would try and find one with a blue light. Just make sure you get one where the beam is visible, as I haven't had much luck with the just the dot scaring the deer.

Can you elaborate on this?
If you're hunting from an elevated position, I shine the laser above the animal's head, by hitting the ground behind them. They can see the beam of light moving above their heads and it scares them enough to leave the area. Here is what I was talking about:

That is a new one to me

I YouTube’d it. Looks like they may follow it to.
I’m getting one :emoji_laughing::emoji_stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Haha, let me know how it goes. I film just about all of my hunts. Next time I am in the stand over a food plot, I will try and get it on film.

I ordered one also not sure what I just ordered though may be bright enough to use as a light saber. I’ve spent 10 bucks on dumber stuff

im old enough I’m having that problem too. Amazon shows me hunting laser/scopey things. I just want a thing. With an on switch

Mine came from eBay 10 mile laser rechargable batter and charger. Should be here dec 14. I can let you know what it looks like. Probably blind myself before I make it to the woods. Hopefully it isn’t the size of a 4 d mag light

Is what I purchased because it had a charger.

That looks like it will work well. I haven't personally tried blue yet, but I know that deer see blue as much brighter than we do. Let us know how deer respond to it.

As for me, I am fairly confident I will get out and bow hunt this weekend. I will try and get the deer response to it on film and report back here.

We actually text each other from stand if we need rescuing at the end of the day. If one of us can get out without busting deer all over thats the instant driver. Like has been said. I’ll take running them off with a machine over having them watch climb down any day.

I barked at a couple does one evening this season. Sometimes that works. Other time like this one, they actually walked over to see why a dog was up a tree:emoji_rolling_eyes:

Try to howl like a coyote. I did that several times this year while sitting on our field plot. Both in a stand and in a blind. Worked every time. They’d just turn and trot off. Never blew, never stomped. Saw deer every sit.

I finally had a chance to get this video uploaded. Here is a video of the green laser pointer moving deer off the plot. Normally, they don't blow and flag like this. They were on edge because a group of bucks had just moved through the corn field and were bumping does.

That is cool.
Good idea.

Very cool, thanks for the video. I'm still waiting for the blue one I ordered from Ebay so it must be coming from China.

I received 2 blue ones from china. The 1 I gave my dad doesn't work.

Walked the last 20 days to all of my stand with a 15-20 lbs back pack plus gun for morning and the afternoon sit.

Each walk out was 1/4 to 1/3 of a mile through less than desirable stuff, and I am am old fuccur. I also have stage 3 Osteoarthritis in my right knee and had knee surgery 6 months ago in my left ... wtf LOL!!!!
You ^ are awesome. You are blessed that God gave you the gift of legs to walk and you don't take it for granted. Don't ever give up!

Although I could purchase several ATV’s I will never own one and I walk in every time. On some days my walk-in is 1.5 hours, my pack is heavy, I climb STEEP mountains well before sunrise, go around 100 acre clearcuts, and sometimes carry-in my scent free clothes to change into when I reach my climber. When you do harvest a mature buck, you are satisfied in KNOWIING that you earned it.

over the last 25 years, people riding ATV's/motorized vehicles into their stands has improved my harvest of mature bucks. Many mature bucks have been spooked by motorized vehicles right to me. In some of my stands I have watched those bucks come great distances, across properties, through cuts and right to me. Soooo glad people continue to ride their motorized vehicles to their stands, lol!

If you have a medical condition and can't walk, that's a solid reason to consider using a motorized vehicle. If you guide people for which you are responsible for their safety over GREAT distances that's another reason for potential use of motorized vehicles. If you are hunting in wolf territory, that's another reason, and I am sure there are other justifiable reasons.

Unfortunately God took away some people's ability to walk. Thousands of people would give ANYTHING to be able to walk again. God blessed me with the GIFT of walking, running, riding a bike and I am NOT going to be lazy and throw that gift away .

Thanks NP, you never know how important things are until they are challenged or limited or you may lose them. For many years I could do anything. Now as I get older the arthritis is something I have to contend with. My next stage is knee replacement.

My goal is to do a mountain hunt someday, not sure if it is in my destiny. I have found that the best thing for arthritis is movement. My hunting these days is more about the journey, not the destination. Easy to make things easy, I try to embrace hard.

Sounds like you have the right mindset ... never give up the fight!

Why are you waiting on that knee if that's the next step?

Not really my choice, but my doctors call. The approach is to work through various therapies to deal with the pain and remain active.

The biggest issue is the impact that covid has had on surgeries. Had a torn meniscus diagnosed in Feb and could not get artho scheduled until June for repair of that. Right now only the most severe cases are getting priority.

Makes sense. My wife is icing her post meniscus surgery as I type this. As a guy who got his first hip at 58, and second at 60, I am a fan of new joints. I see so many people CHOOSING to put up with pain and having their enjoyment of life compromised because they want to put it off.
