Ten Point Crossbow Recall - Trigger Safety

foggy

5 year old buck +
I know several folks on this site that own a Ten Point Crossbow.

If you did not register it with them, they cannot inform you of a recall for most of their products due to a potential safety issue that was identified last fall. Go to their site and read about it. (in some scenarios, their bows could be made to fire when on "safe") They do now offer a fix, and show ways to check for the issue on YOUR bow.

It's a bit complicated.....so....if you own their product go to the site to identify the issue and solution.

My advice: Get this recall/repair done now before the fall season.

Thanks for the heads up.

I don't own a crossbow, but thanks for the public service announcement. It may save someone a tragic accident.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE

Dear TenPoint Customer,

Product safety is our top priority.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, TenPoint Crossbow Technologies is announcing a voluntary recall to repair certain TenPoint and Wicked Ridge crossbows. TenPoint is requesting that owners of these models conduct a self-inspection to determine if their crossbow requires the recall and repair.

TenPoint has discovered that arrows can release from certain crossbows following a sequence of actions involving: 1. pulling the trigger when the safety is on "safe", 2. moving the safety slide to "fire", 3. attempting unsuccessfully to return the safety to "safe", and 4. pulling the trigger a second time believing the trigger is on "safe".

How do I know if my crossbow is affected?

The voluntary recall to inspect - and repair if necessary - applies to certain TenPoint and Wicked Ridge crossbows manufactured from 2011 to 2014. Click here for a complete list of the crossbow models and serial numbers. The serial number is located on the left side of the crossbow barrel below the trigger box.

If your crossbow is listed in the chart, please click here to visit our Voluntary Product Recall webpage. You may also contact TenPoint by email atsafetyrecall@tenpointcrossbows.com or by phone at (800) 548-6837 (from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET Monday through Friday).

Thank you for your cooperation.

Sincerely,

Hunter's Manufacturing Company Inc.

Looked like my venom I bought last year was spared. U would have to be pretty brain dead to still hurt someone because of this recall.

My TitanExtreme is recalled, just checked the serial number

Went on their website and watched the video of how to check if your trigger assembly needs repair. Mine worked fine so I don't have to get any repairs.

My Titan Extreme checked good per their test instructions.

Got the link?

Today, I finally got around to checking my Ten Point Shadow UL Crossbow.....which I purchased about a year ago.

STRANGE THING. The first time I put the safety off, then on again....the bow will not fire. BUT IF I DO WORK THE SAFTEY ON AND OFF A SECOND TIME - IT DOES FIRE. Every time.....in three out of three tests. Enough for me to call it a FAIL.

I don't want to send mine in.....but this is not safe - especially if you don't know about it.

EDIT: OF SIGNIFICANT IMPORTANCE......Mine will "pass the test" when done without an arrow. But put an arrow in the xbow.....and work the safety twice.....it WILL fire. So....I will not trust their test. Check it WITH AN ARROW.....as in the real world.

Kinda scary when the Ten Point test says "pass" but the safety can / will fail "in the real world".
