Well I was looking out the window the other evening and I saw 3 Tom’s 1/2 mile away, heading through the CRP towards an oak ridge of mine. That was exciting, as I’ve never seen 3 Tom’s on my property in 40 years!
The next morning I got up and headed to a blind I had on a rye plot near the oak ridge. I sat about 5 minutes before the gobbling started. I made a few clucks and within 10 minutes of shooting time I had 2 hens and 2 big Tom’s in my decoys! I shot what I thought was the better of the 2 and then say and watched the show as the other displayed and courted the hens just 8-10 feet from my blind!
After the show was over I went and got Lyti to come and help dad with his Turkey. She sure wants the other one now! It was the first Turkey ever off our property and was a great day!

Hey Swiffy, glad you and the family are back home. Perkins is earning his keep with the sheds. Man, there's nothing like killing a turkey with a bow, on your own dirt. I did the same a week ago with a bullhead, lopped that head right off.

Yes it’s all set up for no till. It’s wearing down though unfortunately. The neighbor is a retired farmer and lets me use his tractors and equipment. He likes the old stuff. I hooked a buddys tiller up to his Ford 3000 and did the wife’s garden.

Well I did what a guys supposta do! Just in an unconventional way. I found the match to my best shed off my best buck this season! I’ve searched high and low. I figured it could be in my corn... and it was! I walked it thoroughly 3 times, I guess it just goes to show how they hide in there. Any way, I got it! It was worth the 2 tires. That makes 2 consecutive, fresh matched sets off this buck. He’s 4 now and will be the one I’m gunning for this fall.

I've always had better luck fixing broken tires than broken antlers. Good job matching him up... the story is unfolding!

It’s funny how when you have a lot of sheds from a lot of years, the same genes keep showing themselves almost identically to their ancestors before them. It’s cool.

We see a lot of the same characteristics show up. unfortunately, my least favorites are weak G2's and short brows...

When I looked down at the pond this morning, I saw the swans with their little ones as well as 7 broods of little ducks! Life everywhere.
