Toby got a shed all on his own today. Plus our 19th carcass. Chris petted a playing possum.

Our deer are still holding antlers.
But I did find a deadhead this week. A HECK off a public land 10-point for this area. 18.25” inside spread.

Another guy I know happened to catch this buck on camera earlier in the season and had sent the picture to me, so I knew exactly what buck it was when I found him.

You still have cameras rolling? Anything still holding? We had two bucks on camera in the past two days holding both sides, before that it had been 10 days since last seeing an antlered deer on camera. I'd guess they are 90% shed here, i just haven't had a chance to spend any time looking yet!

At home we are 75%+ shed I’d say. Super disappointing as this is historically my best spot for both numbers and size. Light is pretty harsh today, but man I thought I could stumble into something…

Same on Saturday. Walked a couple miles including 2 wheat fields. Zero. Blamed it on the fact 75% of ground was snow covered

That's a lot of walking to not find anything! I'm not very good in direct sunlight and lots of shadows. Prefer cloudy days with some drizzle, but go any time I get a chance. Not a bad deer you found. Unfortunate he won't be around the next couple of years.

Took my 3 sons on a hike today. Told them we should wait for a cloudy day, but they aren't patient. Got skunked on sheds. Not surprising as it was so bright. 4 more dead deer. Up to 23 inside our farm. 2 really nice yearlings today.

I'm sorry man. Do you think it's EHD? Or CWD? We haven't seen much of either around here.

It was a bad year for ehd. Most of the deer died late velvet or early velvet shed.
