Sheds

I read an article several years ago that explained what it meant if the shed was concave or convex where it detached from the skull. I cannot remember what concave on convex meant about the deer, has anyone else read anything about this?

Convex means healthy. Concave not healthy.

Stumbled across this mystery shed while squirrel hunting today. No knowledge of the deer. Pulled some cards and it looks like he showed up a couple weeks ago and has stayed put since then. Might have a little age on him?

Those are some beautiful fox squirrels

You have a nice crop for next year.

Yep, I'm staying out of the way too. Very few on camera have shed yet.

Yall seeing any shed bucks? I watched 10 or so bucks this weekend in my wheat and all but one had both sides still. One was shedded out. And my one cell cam is showing holding both sides. I was hoping to poke a little this weekend now that the season is over but it seems pointless.
I hunted a friends farm for IL late season CWD. Saw 5 bucks, one had shed both sides. That was 2 weekends ago.

Got out and walked a couple miles this morning, overcast and misting slightly. Saw a lot of deer, two large groups, maybe thirty total. Nothing wearing antlers out and about, found one small 4 pt side down in the valley. 20250201_083931.jpg20250201_082752.jpg

I always pride myself in finding a spike every yr. I'm mean truly... that's real skillz! Anyone can see 80 inches of antler sitting there, but 4?!? That's elite (I use the exact same principles with pleasing women). This evening I found my second spike in two outings. 9 antlers total. That 23% success rate in volume and 100% success rate in attempts! I'm officially the most bad ass shed hunter in the universe! He'll ya!!!
