Update: I'm very happy with the performance of my Reconyx cell on scrape trees in food plots. ZERO indication the mature bucks are spooked by it. They are working the scrape tree as long as 5 minutes at a time costing me extra money with so many pics being taken, LOL.

One of my buddies thinks I'm crazy but I'm convinced they detect Spartans so we have officially transitioned them to security cams. Even on the farm they seemed to tolerate them we never had bucks linger in front of our Spartan on scrape trees in plots. 3 pic burst and gone. On our other farm they flat out quit using our scrape trees.

I think its all about positioning and just your deer in general. Some bucks tolerate cameras and some don't. I've had no problems with Spartan or Reconyx messing with deer as a whole but there are certain deer that skirt the cameras no matter what.

Anyone having issue requesting the HD picture via the app? I've been using that method going on 2.5 seasons but the last week or so it doesn't send on request? I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app already. I've also pinged customer service but nothing yet.

Unless you have the transfer mode set on fast, it sends the high resolution photos at the next scheduled check in time.

What is battery life on these with a set of lithiums? Not on field scan, just movement.. Say 500 or so pics a month.

2-3 months if you're lucky. Worse signal uses more battery also. Check out herd360.com and look at his external battery box kits. We ended up building our own for our spartans. They're rechargeable and we went from like 2000 pics on a set of lithiums to 6000. I think you'll see similar results with the reconyx. Cost was $50ish dollars per box setup.

Are you talking Reconyx? That's what I was specifically asking about.

We have a Spartan cellular and it's been great with batteries but it doesn't take near as many pics as my Reconyx cams do..

Yes I'm referring to the reconyx. I had a reconyx and it didn't seem to last quite as long as my spartans on energizer lithiums. I was also saying you should look into building an external battery box with 6v or 12v whichever the reconyx is compatible with instead of lithiums because you will save a bunch of money over time and they will last a lot longer, meaning less intrusion etc.

We wired 2 6v in parallel(doubles the capacity) for the GoCams specifically in a waterproof box and then bought the chew proof cord from Herd360. We also have 11 cells so lithium cost adds up fast. Whenever Reconyx allows me to add their cells to my verizon plan and use the app together I will go away from spartan.

I bit the bullet on a few solar panels . As far as I can tell, they'll run indefinitely. Without them I'd run dead every 6-8 weeks. I'm in a poor reception area so that probably takes more juice.

Bump this thread to the top. Sorry if it has been asked or discussed already but has one ran a high gain booster antenna in poor cell service areas with any luck. If so I’d love to hear about it. Thank you
