Pear seedlings.

I direct sowed some pear seeds last fall into one of my garden beds, and i like the results so far, less maintenance than pots, less watering, moving up pot sizes ect.

First pic are from Asian pear seeds, second are from wild pear seeds around my place.

I'm doing the same with some apple seeds this fall to get some rootstocks.

Very nice.

Is that some type of red oak by the pear?

Thanks for posting

Yes they are, I posted before to see if anyone could id them but didn't get a for sure answer. They are from acorns i picked up on a job sight last fall.

Just a tip for direct seeding. If you use root-trapper bags underground they are much easier to dig up, zero root damage when transplanting, and the root wad development is far better than a single tap root that you may damage without a bag.

Thank you for the advice, i may try some ground bags next season, but most of my trees are going to be given to friends and coworkers so i'm trying to do things on the cheap.
