I haven’t even finished building mine, and I have been wishing I would have went bigger. I should have went with a 50x60, rather then a 40x50.

I hoped to have the roof finished this past weekend, but lifting 26 foot sheets of steel 16 feet up and climbing 30 feet to the peak is a lot more work then I anticipated. One more days worth of work to finish the roof, and finish framing the gable ends.

I inquired on the larger door. I am going to leave it 8x8.

We have it ready to install some siding now. This weekend I am hoping to get the Wayne’s coating on, and trim. The windows look small, and the patio door in the back looks even smaller, but the windows are 42x60, and the patup door is a normal size 6 foot door.

With November sneaking up on me, I need to get the outside buttoned up before the snow comes to stay for what seems to be eternity. So the next couple weekends will be spent getting the remaining of the steel on. I have the foundation all insulated, and it backfilled in, even though ol Mother Nature threw us a curve ball and decided to drop an inch of rain, and make things all muddy for us. I hoping it is all sealed up by Deer rifle season on Thanksgiving week.

So is the solex lt insulation worth it. It would cost about 1900 to add it. Salesman says it helps in the summer and eliminates condensation.

I did not us it. I don't know if that was a wise choice or not, but money got tight by the end of the project and since I have had shops without insulation before I chose to risk it. I can tell you there is a lot of heat radiated through the metal on a warm sunny day. I have a small propane heater in the shop. I used it last weekend when the temps got down below 20 at night it took the edge off nicely. It was good enough for me but may have helped quite a bit to have insulation. My shop has been up since August and I haven't found a single drop of condensation yet.

I put it in my garage, and the reason was for condensation, being there is a living quarters in mine, I didnt want drops of condensation dripping on the insulation, and causing mildew, and mold. It also helps with rain noise, which with a metal roof, drives me insane. I paid about $900 for mine, and that covered 3000 square feet.

^^^ Rain noise is crazy loud in my shop without the insulation. Fortunately (sort of) it doesn't rain enough here to really be too concerned about the noise.

Just to give the latest update, last weekend the plan was to finish the outside steel, but fate fought me. During the trip there, 2 sheets of steel got damaged, so we could only get so far without those sheets. So we did what we could, and we will need to re order the damaged sheets and finish it up on the next trip.

Looks good, why did you do the wainscot if you were going same color top and bottom?

In case there was damage from a lawn mower, or whatever, then I only need to replace 1 small lower piece, rather then a large sheet.

Good idea. I built mine that way, but it's two-tone. I have some lower sections that need replaced now!
