For all those interested in invasive bugs and what they're doing to our country and it's habitat, check out this article. www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/insects-slipping-into-the-us-are-causing-billions-of-dollars-in-damage/ar-BBQMjQq?li=BBnb7Kz

Note the phrase "watered down" in reference to a bill that was offered to combat further invasive species from entering the U.S. It seems the pallet industry and other businesses don't want pest regulations and mitigation efforts to affect their bottom line. Note also who - in the end - bears the cost of such BS crying about a problem that should have been rigorously regulated against from the word GO. Also note what the loss of native tree and plant species does to our soil and environment - as well as our economy. The experts dealing with these invasive bugs say the U.S must get much tougher with shipping containers and inspections, recommending new materials for pallets and other shipping containers.

A final note - this article doesn't even mention Asian Spotted Lantern Flies, the newest P.O.S. bug from Asia. The lantern fly attacks various trees, grape crops, orchards of all kinds ………. that we know of. Native hardwoods and fruit crops will lose BILLIONS because of the lantern fly alone. They attack by the millions and suck the sap from these plants until they die directly from loss of nutrients or from being weakened to the point where diseases kill the trees / plants.

Get out your wallets.

Native insects are fighting a losing battle, but the invasive species appear poised to fill the gap. Unfortunately. And so epochs of co-evolution is undone in mere years. Somebody once said that Nature works through catastrophe.
