primarily in areas where the canopy was reduced and light is hitting the floor. Seems like it’s more of a bush but some look taller like a tree. Located in NW Ohio

Huckleberry?
Doesn’t look exactly like the huckleberry I know but it sure seems to grow like it in bunches and low to the ground.
Not sure but search that..

I’m hoping for dogwood. It doesn’t look like an invasive to ya’ll? It is dominating in areas that I had opened up to get sunlight. Seems to be in the more wetter areas..

looks a bit like viburnum, but who knows, it was a long tday.

MADcapHorse. Acronym for plants with opposing branches. Maple, Ash, Dogwood, caprifoliaceae, and Horse Chestnut. (Viburnum is a caprifoliaceae)

I think it's Dogwood.

I think Skelly is correct.
