My farm - Where the name "Big Rock" came from.

Man I planted buckwheat this year and your telling me jap beetle are attracted to it. We don't have them in my woods and don't want to introduce them to the area.

All of mine are now looking for something else to eat. Other than the ones that landed on me and met an untimely death.

The beetles can be a pain in the ass for me around the house and garage but I've never noticed them in my buckwheat.

Oh yeah, John your buckwheat looked great standing and just as good on the ground for the crop to follow.

Nice pics John. The corn looked liked it was browsed by deer....for some reason they will do that. They do it here as well even with soybean plants right there. Coons typically will pull the corn down or break it off as will the deer as they walk thru it. Look forward to seeing how your throw and mow turns out.

I get these guys all over the cabin and garage (Asian beetle):



But these guys show up in the tree nursery and were the ones landing on me while driving through the buckwheat. (Japanese Beetle):

Yeah, they were munching on it (doesn't seem very appetizing to me, but what do I know). My corn is doing really well this year. Getting better at the corn thing. I'll keep you posted on the throw and mow. It's my first shot at it. We've gotten a couple smallish rains since I planted and a chance for a LOT tonight (I hope not too much).

On the other end of the farm Jake and I did a little seeding too. This field is much less refined (you'll see why in the video/picture) but it's a work in progress. It's been rock picked a couple of times. 10 more times and it should be good to go.

While he was doing that, I drove around with the 3 point spreader with Winter Rye.

This installation is a "Throw and Go". The field was sprayed and broken using a vibra-shank (much like a cultivator) in the last few weeks. The vibra-shank leaves nice deep grooves in the soil. We spread the seed and mother nature will take care of the rest.

Holy shitskee!!!!! And I thought I had rock issues in my fields.

So I have several 3 point attachments, all of different widths. Last fall I tried a quick hitch from F&F - it didn't fit half of what I owned so I returned it.

Today I modified my first implement (landscape rake I use to groom the driveway) to the "new" width. I decided to replicate my tiller width with everything I own as it was the one implement that would be very difficult to change.

I used a porta-band to remove the ears from the rake, and welded my own parts to make it the new width.



I put it to the test after welding and it held up great. I really look forward to backing up to any of my 3 points and hooking up. Rather than spending 10 minutes and 10 trips on and off the tractor to get connected!

(I should mention I use the Pats Quick hitch on my lower links)

Thanks Jordan.... Our "dream" isn't quite complete. We still live 10 minutes away from the farm. But our house is on the market and the excavator just pulled into the building site today. Expect to be in the new house by spring (and likely living in the cabin most of the winter!). We've owned the farm for 11 years, we are finally in the home stretch!
