More than fair, IMO.They didn’t ask and honestly I probably would have said no. We put in a hell of an effort. I spent half my day and all my free time between sits trudging around my property on nov 8 for someone else’s deer. That where it ends

Any thought of bringing in a dog?Spent the last 2.5 hours going 800 yards in my property trailing a buck we didn’t find. But he was my only real shooter so i have nothing to lose. Good young man so i wanted to find the deer but so far striking out despite som good blood for a while
Edit: to clarify i didn’t shoot this deer. My neighbors grandson did.

Dang good deer. Would have been a monster in a year or twoNo. They didn’t even ask. I’m neighbored out. It’s a damn war zone here.
Just found this in my creek too. Not the same deer. Long way off. Don’t know him. No visible wounds

if I see a deer that good, as soon as I'm done cleaning myself up.afrer shitting myself I'm shooting that all day every day! Great deer. Sucks.ypu had to find him that way, feel for ya.

I definitely don’t think ehd killed him per se but I’m just trying to play in my head what would have. Maybe he went into the rut too worn down from ehd and couldn’t survive Who knows. Wasn’t hit by a car where he was and I didn’t see anything indicating an entry or exit wound. And given how much of him was gone it say it’s likely been longer than 24 hours and that’s all the longer rifle season had been inAllegedly nothing eats a EHD kill except maggots so I think you can rule that out.
The hooves look like he could have been trying to recover from EHD. Entrance wounds are hard to tell sometimes. Could he have been gut shot? If so, it may have entered on his left side and exited on his right where all the meat and hide are missing. If it entered through his left gut, an entrance wound could be pen sized and hardly noticeable at all.I definitely don’t think ehd killed him per se but I’m just trying to play in my head what would have. Yeah I’m going back in the am to get the head. Hopefully he’s still in tact and I can look him over even betterThe hooves look like he could have been trying to recover from EHD.
