You guys braving the bugs this time a year are a special breed. We can't even go outside the mosquitos are so thick

Saw 3 deer this morning leaving the corn field and going back to bed. It was a weird wind shift this morning. Blowing from the north and then a little after daylight, it shifted completely to coming from the south. I move from the southeast corner to the northeast corner walking down an old asphalt road bed. Two of the deer almost ran over me as I made the switch. I setup on the ground on the north side of a well used trail coming out of the corn. Only one doe came out, looked at me and trotted into the old field without so much as a raised tail.

Now, my youngest is with me setup watching a travel corridor at the top of a draw just off a bedding cut I made. I have a feeling some acorns are dropping.

Doe and a fawn came in from the wrong direction. The fawn was feeding under a cluster of persimmons that I didn't believe to be dropping yet. The doe caught our wind, blew like crazy, and took off down into the draw.

Hope she gets that big 8, but any deer will be a trophy. Good luck. She could be a penpal with my 13 yr old son, lol (if that's about her age)

Yep. She'll be 14 this December. Her mom always tells her she's going to make some man miserable.

Hah! My MIL said the same thing to me 15 years ago when we I was dating her daughter.

Chris will also be 14 in Dec. She was induced that yr and we wanted the deduction, so popped him end of month.

See anything this morning? I hope you’re skinning a deer right now!
I didn't see anything....we heard them behind the blind only 20 yards before sunup. That path goes to the neighbor's pond. We'll be back in a stand this afternoon! But still least I had my first Little Debbie snack of the season :-)

I’m back in the stand. It’s about 95°. At least I was able to bring the E bike to give me to the blind without perspiring. I’ll likely be in the stand a couple hours before I usually see movement, I’m hope this will be a good hunt. My son is in a new blind on the other side of the property that looks very promising, as it is next to a pond.

This morning we hunted at our Ozarks property, which is only 13 acres, but has a quarter acre plot. The drought has been wicked in that area but with the forecasted rain, we broadcast seeds last night and it is raining there right now.

Slowest hunt of the season for me. The chocolate 10 and another 3 yo 10 were the only bucks. Trying again in the morning.

Way too hot. I'm at the farm working no way I'd get in a stand. On these 90 degree days you have to pray for a thunderstorm to cool things down enough for an afternoon stand.

My threshold is a low in the 50’s and a high in the 70’s.
