How About Them.........

I'm still salty about the Anderson shanked kick against the falcons in the NFC championship 17 years ago.
I still remember where I was (on a hill with the game on the radio) and what I was doing (just about to go down the hill with my very young at the time oldest daughter on the sled again) when he missed. The radio announcers had just been going on and on and on about how automatic he was

Hell.....I can still remember when Los Angeles "stole" our Minneapolis Lakers.....and Sid Hartman was the coach. I still remember the Minnesota North Stars before they sold to Texas. I can remember when we OWNED the little brown jug.....not to mention THE axe. We just cannot afford to keep the best of the best in this small market (and the Gophers shot themselves in the foot with academic requirements).

We train 'em and bring 'em up.....and the competition buys 'em up (whine, snivel, whimper). Else-wise.....many of your favorite teams would be sucking wind. Just Sayin. :D

Did the goofs sell out this game?

This Boykin kid is the real deal.

Hahahahahahahah!

10-0

Without the 2 fumbles we gave up this score would be reversed....

...PACKERS!!!! Just sayin'...

Immaterial!!! Just saying'...
Not a whole lot to cheer about over on that side of the river this evening, 0-3. 2-0 east of the ditch, but not much hope for Bucky on Sat.

Boukin sucks tonight, missed to wide open guys for easy TD's.

But Liedner........

TCU plays like that this year and they may not make a bowl game!

Close but no cigar, didn't watch the game, too damn late

Fast forward on this old thread. And tonight is the start of the '23 Season for the Vikings. Times have changed some from the start of this post. This year the Twins are leading their division.....the Gopher's have a very solid team and the Vikings are back to winning most of their games. Sometimes you just gotta preserve the rough times to get to bigger things.

Goooooooo Vikings!! SKOL!

(lots of old names in this post above. Good memories. Smile).

Great thread…but with all due respect to my northern brethren there’s only one team you can say How Bout Them about and that’s the Dawgs of Athens.

I admire your positivity around our teams here in Loserville, USA!

You call me back when you root for Cleveland teams...

Know you're role, Minnesota... Cleveland is the tortured city...

We once had a QB in vegas high on Lord knows what, when his team was taking the field in Cleveland.

Ha, you folks offer a valiant challenge! When it comes to having many years of teams that suck you may have a point. Hard part for sota teams is the many years with a shred or more of hope just to repeatedly collapse.

When it comes to QB disasters, it is hard to top the browns though!

With a 3-1 loss on Friday night, the Wild made the 50th straight playoff appearance by a Twin Cities team without reaching the championship round. According to Opta Stats on Twitter, no other metro area with NBA, MLB, NHL or NFL franchises has even reached 30 straight appearances without reaching the championship round.

you ever heard of The Drive? The Fumble? John Elway's name still causes my father in law to mutter things under his breath.

Ever heard of The Shot, The Decision?
Jose Mesa?
Heck the CUBS broke their curse AGAINST US! Down 3-1.

I feel like George Costanza

As a transplant to MN, it is almost comical how cursed this state is for professional sports. Just about every year that I have been here there has been a buzz about a team in one of the big 4 sports that does fantastic in the regular season only to choke or have freak injuries in the playoffs. Some cities have had longer droughts in a particular sport, but if you add up the total number of seasons across the professional sports teams, it isn't even close.

It has been 32 years since a men's team has won a championship or played in a finals.

Closest is Arizona, and they have a championship from 2001, a whole 10 years fewer than MN.

And just to add insult to injury, the Loons seems to be falling in line with choke jobs and keep padding the stats for a major city championship drought.
