First Tomatoes Of The Year

There really aren’t many things I like about summer but this is one of them, the first early girls of the year!!

Power company got our tomatoes spraying my plums and fragrant sumac. Operations manager just called me. They sprayed a mix of garlon, escort xp, and tordon. He apologizes.

It has been a great summer here for tomatoes, we have a couple cherry and some beefsteak planted in the garden box. It's getting hard to keep ahead of them, I try and pick after work every night but some get missed and get to far along. I've got them trellised to around 5' all growing up and they are almost hanging back down to ground.
We love fresh from the garden tomatoes.

I have had a bumper crop of tomatoes this year but they are just about done. I have eaten more than my fair share and have given away tons also this year, they have really slowed down in the last couple of weeks which is good with me because I am almost tired of picking and for sure of fighting bugs! Our deer season opens in about a month so it's time to change focus!

Yours are just finishing up and mine are just getting started, we got these in a little later, this was our first garden in about 15 yrs. We had some BLTs and salads so far, fresh salsa in a week or so.

They are beautiful! I think next year I may plant some early and then wait about 6 weeks and plant some more. I bet I have had tomatoes from the garden at least 6 days a week since they started coming in!
