Fertilizer reccomendations

tried to get 12-12-12 but all they had was 10-10-10 and 15-15-15...decided to play it safe and go with 10-10-10....i plan to spread twice but maybe more like soonish and then May

Check the price. Sometimes it's twice the price for only 50% more of the stuff you want. I buy whatever is cheapest, which right now in Ohio is 12-12-12. I adjust the amount I used based on the strength of the fertilizer.

There more to the fertilizer than amount of a chemical. Some have fillers, some are formulated different. Time release vs quick dissolve. Also fertiizers can provide other things too, like sulfate. And can provide bad things like salt buildup.

Here's a decent little article about nitrogen fertilizers.

My local landscape supply yard sells a slow release 14-14-14 for ornamentals and trees. I'm going to use it this year on my established trees. It also adds some S, Mn and Fe.

When planting, I also add some of their "Carbon-G" product, which is mostly biochar.
