Dividend Check

Do you really believe that Elon Musk is going through emails from 3 million government employees himself? All the stories I saw said the emails are going to the Office Of Personnel Management, which sounds like the government version of Human Resources, and also to each employee's supervisor.

Kind of like the timesheet I have to fill out and turn in every day detailing what jobs I worked on and how much time I spent on them. Or the material allocation sheet that tells how much material I used for each job.

I've had to do something similar at every single job I've had. If anything, taxpayers should be pissed that this hasn't been standard practice for the federal government all along!
I worked for the Feds for 34 years. We did a lot of time/work accounting - sometimes in 15 minute increments. We have gone through reductions in force before. None of this is new. This is just the first time that anyone paid attention, one way or another. I also owned a part time business for 37 years. From my long work history, factoring out the Wash DC workforce because I know nothing about them - there isnt much difference between the local Govt employee and the local private worker. There are great workers and slackers in both groups.

What people think is working hard is a bit of a joke compared to what working hard used to be in my opinion. Also I think that we're in need of more actual professionals that are very good at what they do.

That is no joke - I started with the Feds in 1978. A lot of the male workers had hauled hay or cut pulpwood or caught chickens when they were in their teens - summertime and some after school. Starting in about 2000, a lot of our entry level workers had more time working behind a cash register or waiting tables. I am not saying working at a check out or waiting tables is an easy job - but it isnt like hauling hay in 100 degree heat. The guys I know said a lot of the new hires now never had a job, but spent a lot of time gaming or on facebook.

Guess it could be worse. Needing your hand held to do timekeeping or respond to an email seems to go hand in hand with the old boys that claim to work circles around the next generation.

My grandparents were forever in fear of the great depression happening again. My grandma would reuse teabags and they always got the very most out of everything. They worked their asses off and always remained humble and thankful for everything they had. Fast forward to the soft living and excessive waste that you see and I feel disappointed in what is happening today. Hopefully things turn around and people start doing things to help themselves again. jmo

You used to be an adult at 18 and pretty much on your own. At what age are people independent and taking care of themselves now?

Why do we blame the kids and call them slackers when it's the parents that are enabling them?
I don't remember either of my parents telling me they wanted me to have a better life than they did. They both lived through the depression and still had the ration books/coupons from WW2.

I remember asking my dad for a new bike, he said he wouldn't buy it because I wouldn't have any respect for it. So I peddled papers for a year and bought it with my own money and found out dad was right.

I was on board with cutting government spending and waste but using it to cut rich men's taxes is a huge load of BS. Screw all these guys, both D and R, no one really cares or is serious about making things better and you're a fool to think otherwise

Now I've read that Friday is supposed to be a day of Economic Blackout. Supposed to avoid spending any money in protest of corporate greed, the firing of federal workers, and the ending of DEI programs.

Maybe Walmart won't be as busy when I do my shopping?

Who will listen to that ?

LOL, good luck !

The problem is now, everything is computer driven. I have a degree in wildlife management and was spending 50% of my time on some computer program. My position was Natural Resource Manager. The last few years, it should have been accountant - I had to know nothing about wildlife management, forestry, fisheries, soils, water quality, or anything else in that field. One of the main reasons I retired.

Sounds like a good day to go and buy something American made, like a Redneck blind. And to support local businesses.

Ooooooohhhh. See! And that is exactly what I’m gonna tell my wife! Thanks!

Maybe corporate should give everyone the day off without pay? They can all stay home not watching their corporate tv's or playing on their corporate made phones with their corporate internet and cell signal.

"Bondi was a guest on "Jesse Watters Primetime" Wednesday and said her office plans to release information about Epstein tomorrow."

Not sure I am going to hold my breath.

We know "about" the list, we know it exists. Tell us what's on it without anything redacted.

Get ready to not be able to sleep at night then and be close to a bathroom when you read it.

I think the victims names will be redacted as they should be.

What are you fellas going to do with your dividend checks?

Depends on how many billions it is.

I don't work for the federal government. But I do work for the state. Not a bureaucrat, have nothing to do with government, and I'm not even paid by tax payer dollars. (no more so than everyone's paid by taxpayer dollars)
But I think about my job, the biggest part of my job is the least important part of my job. It's paperwork about paperwork. 80% of my time is dealing with information no one needs, that no one uses and no one looks at other than occasionally to make sure I'm doing it. The other 20% is what I SHOULD be doing, what you'd think I'd be doing, what needs to done and is barely being done and poorly at that, because all my time and effort is spent on the "more important" purposeless part.
I figure this kind of thing must go on all over the state at all levels and probably just gets worse the higher you go. I figure the federal government must be even worse than that.

You nailed it. When worked for the govt, the manager and time clerk prepared the budget. They implemented a new budget program that took six weeks of training to learn. Afterwards, they had to hire budget clerks at every office just to run the program
