Why do the ends justify the means? Why is congress being subverted to make these changes now? Again, no one disagrees that debt is bad. Why not use congress to actually make the changes? One person is making these unprecedented changes now and suddenly it is ok?I was with you till your last line. I don’t think it is obvious to anyone that this approach is terrible and unnecessary. Both assumptions are subjective. I think the bloat in the government is terrible and unnecessary. Unfortunately the government as employer is a business. If a business is being run the way it is massive changes have to be made or the sustainability is in real jeopardy. I respect that you are close to this situation. And you don’t make unreasonable points. Your peers, friends and colleagues have been affected and that sucks. But so have millions involved in interest rate sensitive environments where rates won’t fall because we can’t service our debt. It’s only going to get worse if we don’t make drastic shitty changes. It sucks but the government is ripe with waste, fraud and bloat.
Why is this point so easy to sidestep? Where does this urgency come from and why is there a need to expand the executive powers now? Notice how no republicans in congress are actually speaking out right now, despite their own authority being completely sidestepped.
I know it is unfair of me to ask a bunch of open-ended questions, but I would genuinely like to hear a reason why do this without congress.
