Dividend Check

I was with you till your last line. I don’t think it is obvious to anyone that this approach is terrible and unnecessary. Both assumptions are subjective. I think the bloat in the government is terrible and unnecessary. Unfortunately the government as employer is a business. If a business is being run the way it is massive changes have to be made or the sustainability is in real jeopardy. I respect that you are close to this situation. And you don’t make unreasonable points. Your peers, friends and colleagues have been affected and that sucks. But so have millions involved in interest rate sensitive environments where rates won’t fall because we can’t service our debt. It’s only going to get worse if we don’t make drastic shitty changes. It sucks but the government is ripe with waste, fraud and bloat.
Why do the ends justify the means? Why is congress being subverted to make these changes now? Again, no one disagrees that debt is bad. Why not use congress to actually make the changes? One person is making these unprecedented changes now and suddenly it is ok?

Why is this point so easy to sidestep? Where does this urgency come from and why is there a need to expand the executive powers now? Notice how no republicans in congress are actually speaking out right now, despite their own authority being completely sidestepped.

I know it is unfair of me to ask a bunch of open-ended questions, but I would genuinely like to hear a reason why do this without congress.

He also said they sent condoms to Gaza and then said well you can't be right all the time while toting a 4 year old around the whitehouse.

Congress can't or won't do it?

1 trillion dollars further in debt every 100 days. Someone needs to do something.
That's 1,000,000,000,000.

I’m not saying this to be a smart ass or flippant. But elections have consequences. We keep hearing about a mandate. Given the results of this election and the elections for congress it can be inferred that the majority of people want to tackle government waste, fraud and size. At least that’s my take. If it’s legal to leave congress out, I suppose the fault lies in the system moreso than the president. If it’s deemed to be illegal then back to the drawing board
And I’m not saying cutting some government employees is the silver bullet. It may not even be a BB. But every cut doesn’t have to be a homerun. They all chip away at the lead when it’s tallied up. Hopefully we learn a lesson and the size of the government is permanently reduced and all the deserving people who lost their jobs find something even better very quickly.

So why even have them?

Long live the king, right?

The irony of talking about size of government when rationalizing strengthening the executive beyond anything anyone on this forum has seen in their lifetime.

I’m not a huge Trump Guy so I’m not sure I’m qualified to defend all of his actions. I definitely agree with a lot of his moves lately.

Reducing the size of the government is a real thing that is happening and will be felt both positively and negatively. Saying he has more power than we’ve ever seen while the left has been making power moves for years is subjective and most likely fear mongering. We didn’t hear about it when they did it because they were protected.

Congress did not create these administrations. nor does congress get to do anything within them. Congress gave up their power by letting the executive branch make and run them.

Way before Trump.

Once these branches were created by a pen stroke they ran wild and congress has no power to change or regulate them. They only have the power to throw money at them or not. Congress is lazy and just throws the $.

It’s a bureaucracy not a democracy at this point. If we ever want our vote to actually count again this must happen.

Another point no one mentions is Trump is cutting his own departments. Who does that?

Government getting trimmed down as promised every day during campaigning for the last year, the people voted for it, many because of it. And some of you are up in arms over it?

Where was the outrage when the military was gutted over Covid, when soldiers refused the vax?

Where was the outrage when thousands of oil workers lost their jobs immediately after Biden took office?

Where was the outrage when any new leader of the country takes over and purges anyone they don’t trust that is usually strong opposition of the new party?

Pfffffft

The executive branch has the power to trim down the budget, anything in a gray area will no doubt be challenged and that is great. It will bring it even more scrutiny and can potentially find more waste and corruption.

Everyone always gripes about government waste and say it needs fixed…well here it is right out in the open.

Promises made, promises kept.

Unfortunately the budget needs to keep getting trimmed till we are not in a deficit. The more the deficit keeps growing the more painfully it will eventually be. Every year in corporate America you either perform or you get let go, and sometimes you get let go due to no fault of your own and just bad business outcomes.

Anyone that wants to know exactly what is going on with DOGE without any opinion or political slant just go to ;

The billionaires are happy they're getting more huge tax breaks. We peons will end up paying for those gifts one way or the other. There's been talk of a national sales tax - on everything - that we haven't paid taxes on before. Gotta shift that tax burden to the peons. Shell game ...... and we'll lose - again.

Checks to the minions ,, tax breaks for the fat cats ,,, in other words send the peasants some crumbs while we eat the loaf ,, wake up trump checks will just feed inflation ,,, NO TAX breaks ,,, NO CHECKS , LETS GET IT DONE NOW

A dividend check will ensure that those in charge know nothing about the economy, or almost worse, they are corrupted beyond repair

Yeah but its been several years since we spoke about it. What details are you looking for?

I don’t expect you to make the case for them. My point is, even if it’s claimed to be inspected, approved, and actually inspected, that does not equate to safe or healthy. Everything coming out of our grocery stores and pharmacies is FDA or USDA approved, and look at us.

I was cranky last night. My point was, don’t delegate your thinking and personal responsibility to anyone other than yourself.

I think the left and the right want to fix the large deficit, probably the most bipartisan topic in U.S. We don't need a check, we need our government to fix the problem

Because Congress won't get anything done as they are part of the problem. Congress let Biden sidestep them the last 4 years and did nothing about it.

I applaud the executive order approach. The Republicans Congress did not support Trump in his first term, they have accomplished almost nothing this term, so he is not making the same mistake again.

I'll return the question to you, who is stopping Congress from taking action?

Agreed on all points except I don’t expect any alphabet agency to keep me healthy(I know you don't either). I do, however, hope they can stop virus, bacteria, and pests from overseas food/produce harming us and our farmers.

Everytime I see invasive plants, weeds, bugs, etc. and the amount of resources used to control them locally, it makes me wonder how all that shit got here in the first place.
