Cuddelink general Q&A recommendations

I am looking forward to this update. It will likely be a couple of weeks before I have the time to update all of the cameras, but I am excited to know that future updates on the L’s (and potentially the G) will be automatic. The opportunity to download higher definition pictures (full size) will be a game-changer for me, as I frequently have pictures that I’d like to have more definition, and occasionally will need to go to the field to download it from the SD card.
to clarify you dont command a hi res pic after its taken, you designate specific cameras to send all images hi res, i advise not to designate all (as i knwo many will try it) as it can slow things down and use up more data, but if you want a specific camera to send hi res for a period of time you can do so remotely. Keep in mind since we are using RF , commands are not instant and take time which is why commanding a certain image only is difficult now.

What is the latest version of the Cuddeback app? This will let me know it has updated.

you will know, as its a completely different look and layout, im on testflight so im not sure what version of the new app is being pushed to the users but it may be 2.0

look under devices under "last updated"
Got it. I'm having an issue again today where the new app isn't pulling the latest pictures. I know there have been two hourly pic transmissions. I can see them in Camp, but I can't get the Android app to pull them. Yesterday I emptied the cache and storage for the app, and it started behaving again. Thoughts?

are you tapping "photos " when you open the app? camp and the app are not in sync yet so you wont see them in both places at the same time, i will forward issues people are having tomorrow when the engineers are in, but im logging off for the day so dont expect responses the remainder of today

No worries/hurry.

I am tapping photos. I can also pull down from when in photos and it looks to attempt to refresh. If I go and reset the charge on the app from app properties on Android, the new pics show up right away.

I had the same issue. I had to change the "end date" settings in the top left. Pics will then show up in the app, you just have to scroll up

I tried that. I set it to only show today's pics. Didn't work. Cleared the app cache (not storage) and it starting working fine again.

To clear the app cache, hold down on the app icon and select "App info". The click "storage and cache". Then "clear cache". When I cleared the storage, I had to log back in with my username and password.

Hi John. Long time lurker, first time asker, as I’ve been able to use others posts from this page to fix any issues I’ve had in the past. My set up is about 2hrs from my house, so I thought I’d ask ,before I drive out there to do what I “think” I need to do.

The app on my phone recently updated and when I try to changes settings on my devices, now it says cannot read my settings and I have to ensure I have the latest firmware loaded. My home device and 4 of my L series were on current firmware when I deployed them (18 months or so). I added 2 more a couple months later and I didn’t check the firmware version. 1 of my cameras batteries just died about a week or so, but the other are working fine, taking and sending pictures.

With that background and given the error I am getting (attached), do I have to go out and upload new firmware on all of my devices? TIA, Ken

Just verified that the firmware versions are:

G-2+ = 8.3.0
4 of my LL2A = 1.7
2 of my LL2A = 1.4

gen 3 is available and that s what you need for settings to work on the app,9.01 on the G and 3.01 on the L - you can still adsut settings online in cudde camp now - but its worth your time to update to gen 3 on all cameras when you can , then the new app will work for you with added features - bring a couple sd cards with the JGK version and the L version of gen 3 loaded on it and a set of new batteries so you can load them in the field. read the notes on cuddeswebsite.

Darn. Was afraid of that and was hoping it would be something I was doing wrong. Thank you for the support.

yes all that allows is hi res for J and g series so you don't need ot update if you dont want to
Two other questions.
1. In the new app, the date filter needs to be adjusted daily. Is there a way to set it to "Last 48 hours" or something similar? The old app and CAMP do this by default. Having to change the filter dates daily is annoying. (Android user)
2. What does the red lightning bolt mean in the bottom left of the pictures? Does that represent the photo was taken at night? At first, I thought it meant the solar panel was charging but looking through the pics, it seems it's on all night photos.

they are working on the date range issue.
the bolt signifies the flash, Red is IR, Black is black flash and white is strobe.

I updated cam firmware to 3 & 9 last week, and on one set replaced a few J/G cameras with new L cams. After 7 days those disconnected cams are still showing on the report. Previously disconnected cams would drop off the report in a few days. When can I expect these to go away?

Does flashing the firmware reset the battery days? The G series cell camera didn't, but all the L series cameras did.

anytime you have an app question if you are in a particular feature you can hit the "I" in the upper right and it will offer you help on that feature- in this case --
It's explained in the help. After 48 hours it allows/makes the user remove their camera . It's a safety feature. Stops one from losing cameras when battery goes dead and you forget they were there.

Great. Appreciate all the new features and keep them coming. However, even if I had looked at that “i” it would have taken a while to figure out where to remove the cameras. Being married to a technical writer who used to do online and written help, I notice when the help could be… more helpful. In this instance the “i” failed to mention you needed to be on the details tab of the reports page to even see the remove function, and that you would initially push the “trash can”button before being able to push the “remove” button. Small nit, but hey, why not get it right???
