Beats are around here. My neighbor raises sweet corn and doesn’t like them either.Sandbur, You ever have any problems with bears over there? I'm a little worried that I might have some issues here pretty soon. Bear tracks just off my back yard and the tracks are not small. Hoping they don't go after my fruit trees but if they do I don't think there's much I can do about it. Maybe some pepper spray or some other nasty smelling/tasting stuff a guy could use to try to keep the bears out.
Years back, I had an older boat with a homemade, plywood casting deck. I pulled it out of the shed in the spring and my dog was running around it and barking.Seen numerous bears. never pulled a trigger but once. Bear was messing with my trash can too many times in one month. Took some #8 shot and aimed it before his feet. Last time I was that bear.
Kind of got an indiian philosophy. IF I am not going to appreciate all the offering, I will not take in it. Kind of the same with preadors, no big problems no solution needed.
No bars problem yet. Racoons show up often, but cause little issue so far.
Since I have a trailer now, I have been taking a huge igloo marine 110qt or so cooler. I have almost a whole standup freezer shelf full of frozen water bottles. I put the water bottles in a freezer bag then in the cooler, and cover the cooler with a white blanket and some of that reflective plastic insulation.Bear make some excellent roasts!
And stick bologna! Really tasty.Bear make some excellent roasts!

I don't make bear bologna myself. There are a number of butcher shops in Pa. that process bear & deer meat into several types of bologna for the hunters who kill them. Smoky, peppery, garlic, hot, and some with cheese lumps right in the bologna. With a few cold beers & pretzels, they make a horrible snack while watching a game on TV!!!Make sure the bear meat is thoroughly cooked.
My wife made cubed bear meat in a sweet and sour pork recipe.
Took a few years off from PA flintlock. You can hunt Sundays this year?!?! Got a new 50 cal flinter thats new to me. Will be hunting milford area on the far east by the delaware river.I don't make bear bologna myself. Sandbur,
Think Ive asked you several times, but cant remember. Trailman, when is it ripe for you, and hows the apple? Fresh eating, sauce, pies? How long is your ripe range window for that tree outside on the limb? Cold storage? Topworked a pristine to trailman, gave a coworker one too this year. Also planted a chestnut on m111 last spring too.
Some drooling members on here might want to here a bit about your kerr experiences too. Got several of them, gave folks several too. MY goto 2 apple combo for gifts is kerr n enterprise.
