Crabapple timeline

Glad to see you back on the forum.

Grafted buckman and courthouse. Glad you found those varieties and sent some scions over the years. I parked some extra courthouse on a mature tree a few months ago. Little guy is putting fruit on the scion.

This is the first fruit on some red stemmed dolgo seedlings that I got from Ryan at Bluehill. Nothing real impressive, but the trees have grown well.

This location is on some of my best soil and across a ditch where the best access is from my neighbor.

This is a neat little corner with spruce and a ditch/ waterhole that is nearly dry. I haven’t hunted her for 5 or more years.

Sandbur, You ever have any problems with bears over there? I'm a little worried that I might have some issues here pretty soon. Bear tracks just off my back yard and the tracks are not small. Hoping they don't go after my fruit trees but if they do I don't think there's much I can do about it. Maybe some pepper spray or some other nasty smelling/tasting stuff a guy could use to try to keep the bears out.

Beats are around here. My neighbor raises sweet corn and doesn’t like them either.

We saw one last week. Maybe the same one as last fall. Sow and three cubs a year ago.

I have just a few broken limbs. We have unlimited bear tags here.

Seen numerous bears. never pulled a trigger but once. Bear was messing with my trash can too many times in one month. Took some #8 shot and aimed it before his feet. Last time I saw that bear.

Kind of got an indiian philosophy. IF I am not going to appreciate all the offering, I will not take in it. Kind of the same with predators, no big problems no solution needed.

No bear problem yet. Racoons show up often, but cause little issue so far.

Years back, I had an older boat with a homemade, plywood casting deck. I pulled it out of the shed in the spring and my dog was running around it and barking.

There was a family of young coon under the deck. Those coon never caused any problems again.

Since I have a trailer now, I have been taking a huge igloo marine 110qt or so cooler. I have almost a whole standup freezer shelf full of frozen water bottles. I put the water bottles in a freezer bag then in the cooler, and cover the cooler with a white blanket and some of that reflective plastic insulation.

I do the same thing with frozen fish from my North Carolina pier fishing trips too. Sometimes come back with 50lbs of fillets n small fish. 12 hour trip home and they stay frozen.

If I have a clean shot, it's not warm out, and he's in an easy to recover place, I'l take a bear.

Last year I was bowhunting and saw 3 bears goofing off in a tree about 500 yard away. Fun walk back to the truck that night around the standing corn.
