Conspiracy theorys, where do you stand?

Common sense. Refreshing

So Trump and his merry band of immigrant hanger-ons are all about some h-1b visas. The ol bait and switch. Talk about making America great again, and then take away a bunch of skilled jobs from Americans and give them to Indians for Pennies on the dollar.

Like all things in politics, I have a feeling this whole DOGE thing was a deception to funnel money in the direction of those in power. Color me shocked if anything positive comes from it and color me the same if we actually have any meaningful deportations. They will kick out some high profile scumbags and parade them around with a mission accomplished banner and the other 15 mil will keep draining the country dry.

And as a shut down tactic straight out of the leftist playbook, President Musk is calling anyone who disagrees with h-1b a racist. How convenient

Yikes. Hardly even hiding it

Still way better than the unofficial President we have had for the last 4 years. A bunch of activist aides and staffers.

As someone who works in a company that employs a bunch of engineers, it's easy to see why these tech companies want to import some who actually know what they're doing.

I identified an error with some of our part blueprints a year ago. It took them 8 months to figure out what mistake they were making to cause the error. And new parts are still incorrect 25% of the time.

That's not really how it works. The US takes in over a million legal immigrants a year. There are sectors in the US economy where skills are lacking. If we want to have those sectors, we need to import the labor. This ranges from laboratory work to picking fruit. Americans just don't want to do those jobs, so we import the labor. Many laboratories across the US are entirely Indians or Chinese. Many fruit and berry fields are purely Mexicans or Central Americans. This time around we will probably be getting skilled Germans who are getting laid off as factories are closing down all over Germany.

The current re-shoring of jobs means we are going to need skills we don't have. We will have to import some of the labor if we want to have these industries within our borders.

It goes the other way, too. China and Russia are completely dependant on foreigners for several of their industries. The US recently crippled the Chinese microprocessor industry by pulling the Americans who were working in that sector. Russian oil and gas is suffering because foreign workers left when the war started.

Trump is not going to give a bunch of illegal immigrants visas. He supports what the US already does, which is importing skilled workers wherever they are needed in the US economy. It's not a bait and switch at all. It's a necessary part of bringing industries back to the US. And by the way, Indians and Chinese tend to not only integrate well, but they tend to have stable households, low divorce rates, high incomes, and highly educated and intelligent children.

This is good for America.

I’m not sure id agree it’s great for America but maybe it’s a nuanced argument. Personally (and from I’ve seen I’m not alone) I’m not in favor of bringing over labor from other countries to do it cheaper than Americans. If we can’t get Americans to do it, raise wages. One could say that’s inflationary, but I’d say it’s achieving equilibrium. If a position starts paying enough there will be interest in learning that skill and wages will settle with more competition. And…that money stays here with Americans. H-1b just makes the top dogs even more wealthy.

But…the second co-president musk threw around the racist label if you disagree was the second I knew he was hiding his true intentions of the program. You’ve automatically lost the argument when that’s your defense. It means I cannot defend the facts so I’m gonna call you racist.

That's how we've been invaded. We invited them here because they would work for less money. Now, we have multi-lingual schools because kids can't speak English.

That's just not how it works. American kids aren't even getting degrees in those fields. With the Boomers retiring, we need immigrants to fill in the gaps where younger generations of Americans are lacking. This is especially important during an era of re-shoring jobs.

Not at all. We've been invaded because the Biden administration let 11 million illegal immigrants into the country. Illegal immigration is the problem.

Legal immigration for skilled jobs is good for the US. You think an engineer from India can't speak English? Of course they can, and so do their kids. And there's about 50,000 skilled worker visas issued each year.

It's the millions of illegals who are the problem. They're a drain on society.

Here you go. Fresh off the press. As with all government programs, it’s abused to the benefit of the big guys and at the sake of the American worker

You're not understanding that the invasion has been happening a lot longer than that. For decades it's been happening. They keep coming for the work, but not assimilating. Instead, our schools are doing announcements, assignments, and lunch menus in multiple languages.

"Rather than reduce the number of jobs available to American workers, foreign-born STEM graduates often create additional jobs for U.S.-born workers. Research shows that when a state gains 100 foreign-born STEM workers with graduate-level training from a U.S. school, an average of 262 jobs are created for U.S.-born workers there in the seven years that follow.3 More specifically, the temporary visa (H-1B) program for high-skilled workers is also linked to job creation for American workers and economic growth."

That's not accurate. Illegals have been here since before the Biden administration, yes. But it's not the kids of the relatively few H1B tech workers kids who don assimilate. It's the illegal immigrants and asylum seekers who don't assimilate and drain the nations resources. There's a backlog of about 5 years for asylum seekers to get a court date. Meanwhile, they are allowed to stay in the US while they wait and live off the US government.

We're not being invaded by several thousand legal tech employees with advanced university degrees. We're being invaded by millions of unskilled uneducated illegal deadbeats.

All true, but you're still not understanding the problem. We have been and are continuing to be invaded. The K-12 schools are catering to people not assimilating. They are hiring translators for them too.

No, but we are educating 1,000s of kids with foreign born parents. The foreign born parent who come here illegally, pregnant mother, makes it to the U.S. has the child born here and the child is now a U.S. citizen. We pay for their upkeep, they get to go to the best colleges because of their minority status. And we pay for their education.

The Chinese have been abusing this for years. Their are even hotels in California set-up for this specific purpose.

The parents have paid no US taxes and the child takes a spot away from legitimate U.S. parents & children.

I don't think I'm missing the problem at all. Illegal immigration is the problem.

The local school district's policies have nothing to do with H1B visas.

Any children can learn English. It's the school's fault for not integrating them. The solution is for the school's to teach the kids English, not to cut off skilled worker visas. How much tax do you think and Engineer pays? Probably more than I ever paid. They certainly make more money than I do.

Again, it's the millions of illegals, mostly from Spanish speaking countries, that have swarmed the US and cause school systems to be overwhelmed.

If you read that article it’s largely Indian based companies with us locations, hiring Indians at a significantly less wage than comparable American worker.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. Illegal immigration. Nothing I said had anything to do with H1B visas.
