^^^ 15 minute cities. 3 of the 4 small town hospitals in my area have closed in the past few years. The 1 that is open is rebuilding as a smaller hospital next year. Anyone else seeing hospitals closing or are we the only lucky ones?

Man they are building hospitals and doctor's offices all over the place in central PA. UPMC and Hershey seem to be in a war like Rite Aid and CVS were. There are two brand new hospitals within 5 miles of each other in the last 10 years plus numerous upgrades and expansions.

My wife worked as an RN and later in administration for a multi Hospital / Multi Clinic operation for many years. So we have been watching the strategy of these larger organizations over time. Many of them are in a battle for your major health care proceedures when that day comes. They position their clinics and smaller satellite hospitals in locations to get business for the Specialty Operations and Surgery Centers when those times eventually come. (think Heart Valves, cancer, respiratory, joints, etc.). That is where they need to specialize to remain viable and continue to draft top rated surgeons and specialty doctors.....and Grow.

So, we watch as multiple clinics are now competing in towns like Brainerd for these things. In Brainerd you have Centra-Care (St Cloud base), Alina (Minneapolis base), Essentia (Duluth based) and these operations have same day surgery centers, clinics, and offices in Brainerd......but many in the smaller communities around the area too. The small town hospitals for the most part are becoming history.....as they cannot attract and "feed" enough of the top notch surgeons and specialists with the numbers they provide (there are always exceptions).

in recent years they seem to go after smaller towns (with clinics) as the rural population in the lakes country has grown. Competition is a good thing.....and brings better stuff with it. One thing we appreciate is having the Minneapolis Heart Institute (Alina affiliate) locate a branch in Baxter. This brings those Minneapolis specialists and Surgeons to town a few times each year.....and provides some good local cardiologists too. I'm glad to have these things available to us.....and it's one reason we chose to retire to our location in MN.

Closing many of the small rural hospitals here. My son is a Dr at a medium size hospital and says most of this states hospitals are in financial distress.

The teens had a knife and he took it from them. Actually I think a couple of them had knives. Sorry but a bunch of punk kids decided to F around and found out. Be careful who you decide to mess with. No one deserved to die but this guy had every right to defend himself. When this story first came out, the news coverage was very poor and definitely was slanted towards the teens. The mistake this guy made was talking to the PO PO without a lawyer. NEVER DO THAT IF YOU FIND YOUR SELF IN A SIMILAR SITUATION.

I just read a story about that case and said he was the only person with a knife.

In the video, he had his knife out, so it was pretty dumb of the kids to try to punch a guy with a knife. I guess they learned a lesson that day.

The problem with misinformation is, they have a tendency to be bias, so opinions and emotions on topics tend to feed into their opinion of information.

You ever watch a topic on Fox, then watch CNN it is like complete opposite "facts" on the same story.

For instance Trump could run into a burning building and save a dog, Fox would praise Trump, and say how much of a dog lover he is. CNN would bash Trump, and say how he hates cats, because he left the cat in the house to burn to death, and anyone who hates animals should be put to death. CNN would also talk about how Trump should be arrested for breaking an entry to watch a cat be burned to death.

War departments have been steering and manipulating the news for over 100 years. I’m sure the Israelis will be very fair reporting on why it’s so hard to get food to the Palestinians and correct that story about princess Salma of Jordan shooting down all those Iranian drones and fighter jets.

Sounds like they had a little too much "climate" juice in the chemtrailers over Dubai.... Must be the conspiracy theorist in me that believes certain "climate" assholes like Bill Gates would finance a "science" agenda. Still cant believe Lord Obama put his place right on the ocean front in Hawaii with the rising see levels he talks about. Imagine being when of his cuck followers that believes this garbage.


When I was reroofing and residing my house this spring the chem boys were flying non stop missions over my place. Wouldn't you know it a couple days later we had the biggest snowfall of the year. I watched them make clouds for 2 days straight. At least they are finally admitting that cloud seeding is possible. They could fill lake Mead up in 12 months if they really wanted to.
