A few pics from 5.6 acres that hunts like 6.

And here is my pride and joy. This buck is 5.5 years old and except for no brows at 1.5 he looks the same. I passed him on 10/30/2013 because I wanted to see him one year older. Still haven't seen him in person since then. I hope I get a crack at him this year.

This is my super plot. It is a destination, killing plot with an orchard and water hole. It has 2 staging areas and 4 stands surrounding it for different winds.

That's a tank of a deer! Looks like 6 points - was he that way when he was younger?

5.6 acres that hunts like 6 was a nice touch as well! I got 150 acres that hunts like 40 :(!

How do you get a destination & kill plot in the same plot? I always though a killing plot was for killing but a destination plot was for feeding the deer a stress free area.

I try to make my plot areas as attractive as I can as well. Most of mine have small fruit trees, perennial plot and a annual plot (I have yet to add the water holes). How close are your other water sources and do these water holes still seem to add value?

I am in a rural area of the Twin Cities. A hidden gem really. There is about 400 acres of woods and fields to my south owned by Flint Hills that no one is supposed to be hunting. 5 acre plots all around me to the other directions. There are some row crops not that far away, but once those go down my 50 by 40 yard plot is the only game in town. Not a lot of water around. Pond .75 miles to the north. I have 2 little ponds on my place, they get hit regularly.

Since my plot is the only thing around, I classify it as a destination plot. Since I don't have enough land to have kill plots on top of that, this plot has to pull double duty.

At 1.5 he didn't have brows. Otherwise always a 6. I will post all years of him at some time.

Love it. I've seen some of your updates on this little gem in the past and always look forward to seeing what it produces. I hunt in 601 as well unfortunately the 100 acres I have access to hunts like a 40 acre piece similar to J-bird.
Love the big old 6. Some of these metro deer get old, amazed they don't get taken out by cars more often. I would love to have a gps on some of these local deer. Nomads that travel at night in my opinion.

That boy's got the full neck swell already. Do they bed on your place or come from FH? Bump many w/ access?

Normally don't bump any, but this year, going in a couple times in the morning there have been 2 deer in the plot. I think most deer (if not all bucks) bed in FH. There is a house every 5 acres, a dog every 10 acres, leaf blowers, chainsaws, kids. Why bed in all that when you can bed 40 acres over and have almost no intrusions.

Archery only, correct? Nice deer!

You can slug hunt to the south but i dont think there are any landowners left in the immediate vicinity. Heard gunshots on opener two years ago but not last year.
