Maybe some of you would like to listen to this podcast. Interesting to see what the DNR was saying 4 years ago before the two harsh winters.

After listening to this, It is very evident that APR's are being used to lower deer numbers by shifting harvest to does.

Mr. Grund talks about increasing the per cent of mature bucks in a population. Would the discussion be different if we were talking about the number of mature bucks over a specific amount of acres?

Example-If you have 4 sections of land with 4 bucks on the total area and one is mature, you would have 25% mature bucks. Sounds good, eh???

But if you had twenty bucks on the 4 sections of land and had 4 mature bucks, the ratio would only be 20% mature bucks. Which area would you rather hunt?

You got to have does to generate young bucks and you need young bucks to generate mature bucks. Back to deer numbers.

I suspect my area is very close to about 3- 4 total bucks on 4 sections of land.
