2 Favorite plinking guns?

Fun guns:
Henry Homesteader in 9mm
Kel-Tec PMR-30 22WMR

Never owned a 22 mag. They make many guns in that caliber anymore? For how much I love rimfires, I don't have any other than 22lr. 22lr is my only 22 cal.

Henry, Rossi, Kel-tec, Diamondback are the ones I have. I'm sure there are a lot more.

Depends what kind of "plinking" one likes to do. I'm not overly into just making things go bang and throwing lead. If something isn't pretty accurate, its not that interesting to me. I've got pistols and ARs and hardly ever shoot em. An accurate bolt action 22 and an accurate bolt action 223 are tops of the list for me!

17hmr hands down my first choice for plinking and small game. Super accurate and effective past 225 yrds

How much does that bullet drop over 225? That's a 22mag necked down?

I had a 17 HMR and a 22Mag. Both were quite accurate. Both could kill a prairie dog at about 100 yards.....but the bullet drop at any ranges much further out made the round(s) pretty tough to shoot....IMO. Also the 22Mag had more "punch" at 100 yards than the 17HMR. The HMR would kill the dogs....but never any spectacular hits. I prefer the 22 Mag. 225 yards would be a huge stretch.....IMO.

Not sure I guess. I borrowed one from my cousin a few years ago to do some prairie dog hunting. It had a cheapass bsa scope on it. Id range the prairie dogs, turn the dial on top and the dogs died. After the first day they got pretty spooky so most of the shooting was over 200yrds.

Guy I was with had a spotting scope on the target and confirmed I was drilling every one of them. They didnt fly 5 feet in the air like when using a 223 or 250 but i was killing everything i shot at.

I just ordered some parts. Pretty good chance I'll have a shotgun setup with a thermal soon. I'm thinking this could make for some fun night stalking!

Comes in next week. My new plinker. 50 cal flintlock. Guy built guitars, but built himself a flintlock or two. Coming from texas. patchbox srping might need a bit of work.

Ruger 10/22. I like cheap bullets

I think this is my next purchase. After weighing all the options, I think the cheap ammo just takes priority over the outlay for the gun. The hardware tends to hold its value, but using the thing is where the costs build up. I definitely need to go the .22 route if I'm going to do any serious plinking.

I'm thinking about a very basic Ruger 10/22 with an aftermarket tacticool stock, a nice red dot sight, and a silencer. Then eventually when I can afford it, either a Browning Buckmark or a Ruger Mark IV, with a red dot sight and threaded to take the same silencer.
