1st time planting cuttings question?

Pulled the trigger and bought a couple hundred hybrid willow cuttings. I was planning on using rebar or a probe to stick the holes. should the hole that I insert the cutting into be snug or loose? Any and all advice would be appreciated, Thanks

I would say snug. I used rebar last year when I planted mine but the holes were way too big. All of them grew fine but we had a lot of rain which helped to snug them up. Use something smaller if you can.

Riggs is correct. Snug is better, you want as little air as possible around the buried part of the cutting. Contact with the soil on the sides of the hole will improve your success rate.
