Who drives to their stand?

Deer get used to hearing ATV’s or whatever your using to drop off bait it’s like a dinner bell to them after a while. I always drop my boys off at their stands because of this and a lot less scent is spread around not walking in your not sweating ect. I personally think it’s a good practice in many instances.

I used my green one again a few weeks ago and cleared all the does off of a food plot. Is the beam visible at night?
I have heard that the blue is better because it is more visible to the deer. I haven't tried it myself.

My first one lasted 2 hunts in the 20s I ordered another one haven’t had to try it out yet though

hah, I'm sensing a pattern. No dice on the red bore sighter tonight. Fortunately 13 worked off and I didn't need it, but a single doe was totally unphased by it. Did you tape your buck yet?

We have always walked to our stands and plan to continue. Our neighbors dive to their stands. Whether it’s with their vehicle or ATV. We too have deer pushed to us by the vehicles. But I’m sure our walking has bumped deer too. But the vehicles IMO are more invasive. Most guys say they’re used to them. But that’s typically not before light.

We are at our place for close to 10 years now. For years I walked... even to the SE Corner that took me an hour and resulted in me being dripping wet when i got there and often unable to sit as long because when sweat turns cold, it is miserable.
The last two years I have started driving 3/4 of the way. I probably walk the last 200 yards. My rationale. My pops scores almost every year. The last 3 he has the 3 biggest in camp. He is struggling and so he goes to the closest blind. It is 50 yards from the bunk house. He doesn't care about wind. He makes a racket. Clears his throat on his walk. Sometimes i will hear the door on the blind slam open when he pees. Is it luck for him? Maybe it is? And if so, then luck helps. Or, maybe location is just good for him! For him as long as he is quiet when the decide to come through he is fine.
If you jump them on the way in.... then you lose. But that happens walking or riding. Once in position... I think that sound/smell dissipates quickly.
Walking is not a loud (and less smell) but it is slow and for those that do hear you, because of the slow pace they tend to react more. The quad has a steady sound moves quicker. Because of that I find the deer on my property freeze and see if that steady movement becomes a threat... when it doesn't (quickly - quad moves quicker) they go back to their thing.
Of course, I am in full agreement with all posts. I hunt in thumb of michigan. They hear quads, side by sides and tractors every single day. If you were in the mountains of CO or Wyoming and it was a new sound. I would never do it.

I planted a food plot on a snowmobile trail that goes through my logging land lease. The trail goes parallel to the dirt road and maybe 100 yards apart. Most people go to our club because its in the remote adirondacks. Literally could walk 10 miles straight without crossing a road. This spot was easy pickings for a food plot with an old log clearing next to the trail to boot. Deer were not spooked by vehicle traffic at all. I bumped into the same spike horn 3 times last year while working and hunting there. Even had my tow behind mower running. You'd think remote area deer like that would be fussy.... They actually go closer to the logging activity in the winter to eat the fresh buds of felled trees.
You got to feel good about what you did to get to your treestand. Mentality means more than reality, expecially if you feel like leaving the stand on a blah day........

I've experimented with getting dropped off with a utv over the years. In most circumstances I'd say they have a negative impact.
Through hardwood sections I love to blaze a path through the freshly fallen leaves with my zero turn. Stealth mode activated. It's crazy how closely you can sneak by deer when you're not making a sound.
