There are probably a number of lessons that might be drawn from the picture. The man in the picture is familiar to me. If I do know him, and the picture probably makes this obvious, he's a soil scientist. With regard to soil there are a number of observations that can be made. But, it looks like the big focus is on the underground portion of the plants compared side-by-side. For me, the picture illustrates two themes we often debate here. One is the building of soil organic matter and the other is the assumptions we make about what a contact herbicide like glyphosate or clethodim will or won't kill and why.
