Cuddelink general Q&A recommendations

ive never had a camera i couldn't get firmware loaded , most often unzipping does it. I it woudl be very odd for you to have 2 that wont take and have something wrong with them. What version is on the cameras now? another thing to check is that your computer isnt renaming the file if you copied it to your computer more than once. You could also call Cudde and they can sell you a card with firmware on it. If you have a local dealer they also are usually good at troubleshooting and loading it as well.
Thanks for your reply. F/w version is 08-03. I have about 15 cameras. The other cameras/repeaters accepted the updated F/w with no problem. I’ve called Cuddeback 7-8 times and have never received a return call.

so after rereading your posts , if you cameras have 8.3 on them already what are you trying to load? 8.3 is the most current there inst naywthing beyond 8.3 . Maybe i read your post wrong.

Sorry. What I meant to say is that currently a 07 f/w version is showing on the camera. The 8.0 version will not install on 2 of my many cameras. I’ve made another install Ss card, I’ve rebooted cameras, I’ve changed batteries

where are you located ? i can try to find a delaer close that could help, if an unzipped firmware file doesnt do it and they have extremely old firmware on them you may need to jump to 7.9 first but that is extremely rare.

I’ve made another install Ss cards I’ve rebooted cameras, I’ve changed batteries, and I’ve cleared the cameras. My guess is that the cameras are broken. I’ve had numerous problems with the cameras and cell unit since I purchased them, and had to send them to get fixed. It always takes a long time to be returned to me. Every year since I purchased I’ve had issues and was only able to use about 80% of the units I own. Since it takes so long to get returned, I’m always short. This year I wanted to use a different cell company. I sent them to Cudde in plenty of time — June or early July — to get the SIM cards changed to ATT. I got them back late August. During that time period I received a call informing me that one unit couldn’t be fixed and was out of warranty, but I could purchase a new one, which I did. (I’m going to try to condense the rest of this text). Activated both cell plans. One works one doesn’t. Noticed two different cell plans. One of two got new SIM cards? Unable to get any help. Good customer service seems to be non-existent. They should email me and send me a new cell unit and a new camera — NOW. I’m 71 years old. I’d like to get this resolved before I’m dead!!

send me your name and phone number, they keep records of everything on who calls , what they returned, how long it took , etc ill have someone dig into it . Since you wont tell me where you are located im assuming you dont want help from someone local. anyways, get me your info and ill have someone dig into it.

Tom Holzrichter 262-391-7945. Starting Monday 10/25 I’ll be in Hopkinsville , Kentucky for a week to 10 days. USE THIS PHONE NUMBER. 270-987-7610. Is there a place around there thatI could go ? Hopkinsville is in western Kentucky. Thank you again.

Whale tales archery in dousman is west of milwaukee and is a very good dealer and knowledgeable , You would want to talk with Kyle the owner, so you woudl want to make sure he will be there. They are a very busy shop so you would want to set aside some time so he can look at them while you re there. I can tell him you are coming and what to try if you want to take them there. They re closed sunday and Monday so that wouldn't work if you are leaving Monday. Ill check on western kentucky dealers but im not sure if we have any there.

Anyone running a big ol car battery on their home units with a solar panel? I’m thinking about doing this next year and have the transmission set to instant. Having to wait an hour or for a batch is killing me. Especially when I’m in the stand….

Having it set to batch 1 will back log your system. Been there, done that....and I don't even have a high deer density where I hunt. The next best option is to have a K/G cell cam set as home and also setup with suveillance turned on. Pics come through within minutes.

as was stated above, batch 1 or 2 doest work with a Cuddelink network, set one camera as priority and keep it at one hour or batch 5 for the quickest image transmission with a network.

Did you set priority on all your cameras? I have about 10 in the network the settings say to limit to 3 cameras for priority.

even though it says limit it to 3 you should limit it to 1 , trust me.... it will keep your system working correctly, unless you have VERY LOW pic volume in your network you dont want 3 of them on priority.

Ok thanks.

How does setting one camera to priority actually speed up transmission? Wouldn’t it just speed up transmission for that camera? The rest still wouldn’t come until the hour correct? Or that assumption completely wrong?

I only like priority for a K/G cell home cam or a remote that is on a trail/funnel (somewhere that you'll be getting only a couple pics of that sequence). I've found that if I have a cam set on a scrape or bed (where I'll be getting a ton of pics of that sequence bc the animal is hanging in front of the cam) it will back log the system. For example, on a trail I may get 2 pics of a buck but at a scrape I may get 8. Priority sends those 2 trail pics asap but the scrape pics arent all sent at once. They get sent in small batches of 2 pics and it may take a few hours to send all 8 pics bc they can't transmit all at once through the link network. As soon as the home cam receives pics on a priority cam it sends them out but it can't receive and send at the same time. So it actually ends up being longer than if you have it set to batch 1 hour. The only way around this that I've found is to have your K/G cell home on priority. Therefore eliminating the large group of pics being sent in small batches through the link network, they are already at the home cam and can be sent via cell network almost instantly. I hope that makes sense.

But in this scenario only the home pics get sent right away correct? And anything else coming to the home unit via the cuddeback network still hangs out for the hour? Or if the images are sitting at the home unit when the home unit triggers does it just send everything?

I believe it's just the images from the home cam that send. I do remember getting images from other cams sent but it was probably due to them being in que and the homee cam was at it's interval to send them.
