Well, if those pics are the real deal....that's a real good habitat pear.

I grow 'habitat pears' from seed. They are easy ---ready germination after stratifying, fast vertical growth, and seem pretty hardy if fenced securely.
And I get a lot of fruit on each tree.... (after about 6yrs from seed) .... that is just a hair smaller than a .50-cent piece. And not only are these trees prolific....the fruit hangs late. And deer like it. So do racoons.

I have all the pears I need but that guy's trees look interesting. Maybe try to buys seeds from him?

The Man has a tree service business...cutting down trees. I assume in his line of work that's where he found some of his "parent trees" . Those pear tree pictures were labeled as the parent tree.... I think I'll buy a few trees to see how they are and report back.

Cant hurt, go buy a few.

I bought (2) pear seedlings from willis orchards 3.95 each. Bought a bunch of basic crabapples from them too, as well as a few bartlet pears.

May want to research how fast those wild ones grow vs grafted varieties. I'd spend a few bucks to save a few years.

I just checked out Willis, sounds like a good deal. He says they start producing around 5 years of age and they are $8.00 each , a little pricey compared to yours, BUT I'm going to try 4 to see what happens. I bought a few "wild deer pear" seedlings from Native Nurseries maybe 5 years ago, those suckers grew like mad !, I had 2-3 small little pears on one of the trees this year, hopefully 2023 will have a better crop. NN stopped selling them ,I believe concerns they were crossing with Bradford & Cleveland pears . If the NN trees don't pan out I'll replace them with these pears IF they match what's shown in the pictures !.

Looks like a Callery offspring. They are quite invasive if there are other Callery trees around. That said, if they are already invasive in your area, one more probably won't make it worse.

Just be careful with willis, I bought 3 trees for $170, all three died. They replaced the trees but had to pay $50 in shipping. They were persimmons. I won’t buy from them again.

The roots were cut up when I got them. All the other trees I bought from other nurseries that I planted survived and thrived.

That's what I was thinking and I was waiting to see if anyone said the same thing. I have 5 Callery's on the property already that I hope to remove someday, and my neighbor has some Bradford pears . They all get small pears but nothing like in the pictures....

There is one near my parents' house that looks exactly like the one in your pictures. There are also dozens with tiny dime-size or smaller fruit.

I’m wondering why there are hundreds on the ground uneaten?
Pears/Apples/Crabs don’t last long here even in town with a lot of trees, the bunnies squirrels and birds will clean them right up if there is nutritional value to be had.

I see it a lot with different crabs in my neighborhood some get eaten immediately as they drop others wildlife won’t touch for some reason.

I'm no expert on pears by ANY means - but I had a Bradford cultivar "Redspire" - in our back yard for about 27 years. The branching habit was very upright - not at decent crotch angles like in the pic. Our Redspire pear's limbs were so straight up that they posed a breakage problem in wind or wet snow. Fruit was about 3/4" and nothing ate them. I cut it down. Our neighbors a few homes away have a Callery pear in their yard - and its branches go mostly upright, too.

Can any of you guys who have Callery, Bradford, or "Redspire" pears share your opinions on the pear in the pic - based on limb angles?? I'm curious to hear what other info comes out!!!

Good question...looks like it's along a driveway , maybe in the suburbs possibly without a lot of wildlife to clean them up ?. Either way I think I'm going to pass on buying some
