Thanks for the welcome. For the Texas Co. property I don't have any immediate plans, as it is on a cattle lease. The property has a pond that attracts wildlife from the Mark Twain Forest. Next time I am on the property I will put a solar cell camera up to assess what is coming to the pond (the trails are well worn, so I am guessing many critters use the pond). On the 13 acre Dade County property I have a hiddy hole plot and have harvested a couple of nice deer from that location. The Clinton Co. property is where we call home. This property started as 20 acres. On that piece I have 2 acres in food plots, 5 acres in grouse nesting plots and 3 acres in Monarch/Bee restoration plots (milkweed and other pollinator mixes). Last year I removed 10 acres of invasive cedars on this property so this work is just beginning. I finally was able to put a bridge (30# loading ramp) over the creek this year allowing access to the property without having to bother the neighbors. Last year I tilled the soil, and many native grasses returned (along with way too much poison ivy). I will be converting to no-till for the aforementioned projects.Welcome! Another Missouri guy here. I live in the St. Louis county area but my property is in Crawford County. Texas county can be a little bit of rugged country but there’s lots of deer down there - and of course northwest missouri is great deer hunting. You’re in a couple nice locations. It will Be nice to hear what work you’re doing.
In December I purchased the adjacent 65 acres which had been in a soy-corn rotation. This will continue on about 50 acres. The property has two 2-acre plots of oaks (planted in the 80s) and a 1.5 acre pond. I'll be putting clover on the ground around the oaks and pond, as well as leaving a 2 acre strip of soy or corn each year.
