Grew them for the first time this year. They are a thin walled Japanese pepper that is typically prepared by blistering them in a hot pan and then served with or on meat. Fun part is most are mild but some are HOT. They refer to it as russian roulette with peppers. Internet says 1 in 10 but 1 in 4 seems more accurate.
Several years ago Doritos had a bag of chips that had a few very HOT chips in them. A few guys from work brought them to the break room and we'd take turns eating them until someone was in tears from the random flaming hot one. Good times.
That is basically a schnitzel. Delicious with a variety of sauces. We usually make a mushroom sauce for it when made with venison. Mustard cream sauce is good too.
