What's for dinner?

Shitake shrooms sizzling in butter, sweet corn from garden, and Rline dogs over the campfire.

Browndog ... looks good.

We did sweet corn this weekend, 4th in a row, and I think it is at new peak for sweetness.

Love your fire pit cooking approach ... more picture on it!

I cook over this all the time and love it. The older I get, the more I use the KISS method...keep it simple stupid. The ring is a cutoff steam pipe I bought from a friend about 20yrs ago for $10. The swing away grill my mom gave me a few years ago because she will never use it.

Was on my own last night so wanted something fast and easy. Decided on parmesan steaks so I took some minute steaks (chopped steaks) dusted them lightly in a gallon freezer bag with a little flour/parmesan/pepper/Tony's/oregano, threw them in a hot skillet with a pat of butter...browned made a little corn on the side and in about fifteen minutes from start to finish I was in business!
Enough for my supper and had a plate ready for mama when she got home and I've got some good leftovers for todays lunch.

H2Ofwler those look great! I could go for one in a biscuit right now!!!!

With all the fresh peppers, onions, & garlic coming on now, I tried a simple off-the-cuff meal I did with no recipe. Very easy to prepare.

In a stock pot, I browned about 1 1/2 lbs. of crumbled, loose hot Italian sausage & drained the grease. Removed the sausage from the pan & set aside. In the same pan I sautéed 3 large multi-colored sweet peppers and 2 medium Vidalia onions in butter and extra virgin olive oil. While they were sauteeing, I made a big pan of white rice and set it aside. As the peppers and onions were about done, I added 3 cloves of fresh minced garlic to the sautee pan.

I combined all the peppers, onions, garlic, rice and sausage in the stock pot and simmered on low heat for about 3 minutes so the mess was hot. I then added a few gobs of butter and drizzled more extra virgin olive oil in the pot and stirred it to mix well. Served just as is or with grated Locatelli cheese sprinkled over it - either way was delicious !! Corn on the cob completed the meal.

No pix - but it was VERY tasty !!!

You had me at peppers/onions/garlic! ^^^^

"Fresh" (from our fishing trip last week) Canadian perch on the grill. White onions, garlic, butter, seasoning salt, and pepper.

Here they are cooked with "Messy Potatoes" (potatoes, sour cream, shredded cheddar, bacon bits, onion and french dressing):

TreeSpud inspired. I don't usually do ribs like this but they turned out great.

Misquite in the smoker tray and over the direct heat on low. Ribs in an indirect heat location for 3 hours.

BBQ sauce towards the end so it gets nice and sticky. Corn on the cob to go with it...

Gotta love the wood chunks / chips for the flavor !! ^^^^^Those ribs look awesome !! I do the same on our gas grill .............low heat & slow. Youngest son and I built a smoker out of a food-grade 55 gal. drum. Lots of good eats to come from that project !!

Grilled loin in cajun pork chops ... pan fried sweet corn with peppers, onions, & garlic, green beans, & apple sauce with cinnamon ... :emoji_yum:

That pan-fried corn w / peppers, onions & garlic is killing me !!! I LOVE fried corn - a favorite from childhood.

Whole wheat penne primavera - vegetables are broccoli, zucchini, diced tomatoes and of course mushrooms. Add a Caesar salad, French bread and a petite sirah and it's a nice meal. No meat but still good eating. After a long hot day I needed some carbs. My wife is working tonight and it's her favorite so I'm spoiling her a little. The kids all had plans so I got to spend a little time in the kitchen.

I was going to rip you a little for the "no meat" comment. But then you followed it up by saying something nice about your wife. Well done. Happy wife, happy life.

Parmesan crusted baked trout fillets from last night, and smoked stuffed jalapenos aka atomic buffalo turds from last weekend.
