What Muzzleloader are you using?

I'm getting a scout converted into a smokeless muzzleloader. Hopefully I'll get it soon and then I'll have to decide what boyd color stock to put on it. Wind gypsy that sucks about the bulged barrel. Never knew a bullet could cold weld if left in there too long.

Yikes. Sucks, but could of been alot worse.

What do these conversions usually run?

Mine was $1300 for the barrel which included a lot of extras. I found a NOS Encore frame so I'm at right around $2K.

That is a good option. Check out Tim Moss at customgunsammorepairs.com. He's a got a real good CVA Scout conversion video on YouTube that is worth watching. Great guy to do your conversion if you haven't found someone yet.

Tim is doing my scout conversion

Awesome. I hope to one day send him a Scout for a conversion.

Can't wait to see your range report!

I use Pittman Bullets. The gun comes with a sizing die that you run the bullets through to get them the exact size of the bore. This is very easy. These bullets are what Jeff Recommended. Link = https://www.pittmanbullets.com/

The powder is IMR 4198. When you buy the gun he will give you the max grains.

The Ignition system is Jeff's own design. Link to Jeff's ignition system = https://hanksprecisiongunparts.com/p/hankins-ignition-system-his-complete-kit-5-8-18-tpi

Ballistics will be somewhat similar to a 375 Remington Ulti Mag shooting a 260 grain bullet at around 3,000 fps. Jeff has worked out all the numbers for scope settings at different ranges. See my picture above shown on the scope.

A heavy slug? I'm already shooting a 275 grain bullet at 3,000 fps, so I'm not interested in shooting anything heavier - especially after I gut shot a coyote full of ripe persimmons. My stomach won't take a bigger mess than that was.
That is incredible out of a smoke pole, Native. I have an embellished BDL in 375 Ultra, it hits like a freight train. In front of and behind it.

The gun is extremely heavy, and that's a good thing. The weight takes most of the bite out of the recoil. It isn't nearly as bad as a lightweight 30-06 that I shoot occasionally.

Native, I’m gonna run right out and sell my new CVA Acurra after reading what you shoot ! That group was incredible ! I don’t know if Texas even allows smokeless muzzle loaders but it sure would uncomplicate cleaning and loading. Does the guy you linked to convert Accuras, or do you know ?

I know he does Encores, but I don't think he does Accuras, Here is his ML page: https://www.hankinscustomrifles.com/muzzleloaders/

They convert cva scouts to smokeless but I don’t think accuras.

I also have a couple of scout conversions. 2 different guns first 3 shot groups after an initial fouler at 100 yrds. The conversions definitely shoot.

Got off my lazy butt and cleaned up the muzzleloader building table. Haven't worked on this guy in a long time. Kind of a frankenstein gun. The 13/16"s barrel is a bit too small for the larger siler lock, so I have to put the lock a bit on the high side. Otherwise the dip in the pan would have a gape from the side flat of the barrel and get into the stock.

This 45 cal 1:66 twist barrel aint gonna go much past 100.
