Yep....no doubt the Summer's are rough in Phoenix. Most people go from AC to AC during those times....pretty much like winter in MN....only from Heat to Heat. Still.....opportunity abounds for those that can endure the summer heat. As they say....it's a dry heat. I can handle up to 105 or so outside......but those higher temps are oppressive.I have been to Phoenix several times, no desire to go back other than the good BBQ, but I can get that elsewhere. My oldest son that has bad allergies went out there in the spring and told me how great it was and how he could breath. I took him back in August and he lasted one day before he bought his own ticket to get out of the desert.
OK....but if you really are that sensitive to the heat....their are lots of cooler climates than Phoenix. Only an hour and a half away are Sedona and Prescott....and lots of smaller towns in that area....and all are at a higher elevation.....and thus lots cooler in mid-summer. I know several people here in the area that own a second home at these elevations to get away from mid-summer heat. To them....it's like having a cabin in northern MN to get out of the city at times. Same stuff / different motive......but it's a dry heat.
Yep....on some roads. But you could say the same about most big cities these days. The city life is not for everyone. I do live about two miles from I10....which has about 4 or 5 lanes in each direction. We do not go on that road at certain hours of the day. No need to do so. Lots of other venues to travel. I'm sure to some downtown working fools this sucks. But for many more.....it's a non event.Aren't there like 6 lanes of highway into and out of the Phoenix area? Aren't they almost all full most of the time? No thanks
Hard pass for me too. I think that's my least favorite place I've visited. It's a depressing, dead, dry landscape. We took a 60 mile ride in a razor in the desert as well as hiked to the top of camelback mountain and took in the scenery. Rocks, sand, cactus, and heat. I need better nature than that.If you or a family member finds itself looking for a change in life.....look into Phoenix and the absolutely BOOMING economy developing here around several industries....including the Chip manufacturing biz of Taiwan Semi Conductor....here in North Phoenix. LOTS of good jobs available for anyone that has some skills or even the ability to show up for work. If I were a young person looking for an opportunity....I'd have a hard time looking past Phoenix......Just sayin....
Phoenix planning for $7 billion 'city within a city' near TSMC
Plans are underway to build what some call a “city within a city" in north Phoenix. The $7 billion development project will be located at the northwest corner of Interstate 17 and Loop 303.www.kjzz.org
Prescott, Williams, Jerome, Sedona and the surrounding vicinity is a pretty special area. Lots of stuff to do and see and plenty of places to eat, etc. I like doing some off-roading with my Jeep on the trails in that area. Lots of old mining towns and sights to see. Of course all the nicest areas in this country are now becoming too crowded for many of us. Some of these areas were especially nice before we became "over-populated". Getting hard to get away from people these days.Prescott is nicer. I can’t say much. I live in NE metro ATL and work by the Braves stadium. Not downtown but not much different. 33 miles takes me around 30 minutes in the morning but the drive home average is around 1.5 hours.
Gloating looks good on youAdded some graphics to my golf cart today. Gotta go with the patriotic image. Of course we all put American flags on our carts and our favorite football team, etc. SKOL!
Rough day here in the desert today......Highs about 78 degrees....and not a cloud in the sky. Normally calm winds too. You can have your ice to walk on....I'll put mine in a glass. FORE!
That golf cart goes 32 MPH....on lithium battery. Recharges in two hours. Walk-away automatic braking system. Nice! Tomorrow I will add under body lighting. lol
