Two years after logging

Here are a few pics just two years after logging. The first picture is a area that was just clear cut on 1/16. The pic is the same area now. Some of the aspen is 15ft tall and almost to thick to walk thru. The third pic is a clear cut that was done in a lower/swampy area. The fourth pic is what it looks like today. The deer love this spot. The grass in the fall is about 4ft tall and the red shoots that look like dogwood are actually red maple stump sprouts. It is almost impossible to find one that isn't browsed.0101161325.jpg

Looks good

Looks good. It's been my experience the more wet the area, the longer it takes to bounce back. Seems like the opposite of what you might expect. That will just keep getting thicker!

It's about time to cut some sneak trails through those aspen. The deer will follow them like they are on a leash!

Your 4th pic looks a lot like "old field" habitat, my favorite.

I could see Bucks busting through that Aspen all day during rut. Hear them coming from a mile away too. That’s my favorite habitat right there.

There was a lot rubs in there. My son 10 year old shot his first deer (8 pt) in a hardwoods clear cut about 50 yards from the aspens in the pic. Here is a pic from my stand over the lowland clearcut during the rut. Can you see him? Came in about 10 yards, let him go.1101181631.jpg

I just love these pix !! Kick-butt cover & browse !! I see the buck and it's no wonder he's sneaking through there. Gotta love those aspen regenerating and red maple stump sprouts. Wait until the stump sprouts get to be 1" and bigger - rub city. Same with those aspen. Great looking pieces of cover.

This kind of habitat is where I'm on red alert from dark to dark. Kinda feels like something's watching from some hidden spot. :emoji_thumbsup:

Thanks. It was hilarious. I had a fork and a spike chase a doe in here one mourning. She lost the 2 bucks for a while. I would just see her head pop out of the grass and the go back down. A little while later only her head would pop up. They did eventually find her.
