Trailcam pics

Mister (?) Bear made an appearance again this morning. Surprising to see one twice in two months. Normally I see them once every 3-4 years.
Don't like it really. Makes me worry about damage to the cabin. Plus it might temp someone to shoot it. ("What did I do that for!?") It's not terribly large.

I used to love sleeping in the woods. Fall turkey/squirrel hunting was my favorite time of year. Walk and nap, walk and nap. A wonderful way to spend a day. Then that big bear tore the side of the house open. And my neighbor got cam pics of a big putty cat that the state says doesn't live here. And lots and lots of coyotes. And my willingness to nap was greatly reduced.

Okay, I don't like this at all. What's it doing hanging around? Two days in a row? The only food around is in the cabin at the bottom of this trail. (Which for some reason after almost 70 years, certain members of my family still haven't learned is a terrible idea.)

Random pic here. I put an exclusion cage out last weekend in this plot, and staked it down with some short orange reflector stakes. This bucks legs lined up perfectly with the stakes to make it look like he's wearing socks.

The 3 youngsters that have been around all Summer are hard horned and already clicking antlers a bit. Had my 2 bigger local bucks come through one night this past week. They are still wandering. It has been hazy with moisture in the air many prime times so the pictures aren’t the best quality.

They don't look great, but they're coming out of the most nutritionally stressful portion of their lives if they have fawns. Are you seeing many fawns around?

I have one or two does on camera that look similar but the vast majority have a gut on them. Next few weeks will be critical for them to pack it on for the skinny ones, if they aren't actually sick.
