Trailcam pics

Fat cat. Post #916. Good pic.
We joke that he works out. He's been around for a few years. Lots of bobcats in our area. Two deer seasons ago I saw a big cat stalking turkeys. I tried to scare him off from my stand, but he didn't mind me one bit. Got down and chased him off. Let me get to about 20 yards.

That one in your pic looks like he eats well. Quite the critter. Thanks for posting the pic!
I squeaked a bobcat in (using lips) to about 25 yards in thick laurel when it jumped up on a tree trunk to see what was doing the squeaking. On that tree trunk, it was only about 10 yards from my son, who was shocked to see it that close. Lots of cats around our camp area as well. Cool to see them.

What's going on here, winter coat coming in I guess? (made more obvious by the early dawn, still in night mode photo)

Could be new coat, or could just be the way the IR is registered by the camera. Passive IR can play a lot of wierd tricks on images.

Holy crap! That's impressive.

I have a little buck that has peeled his spike on one side. Driving by the deer pens down the road yesterday we saw that one of the big deer had started to shed on one antler. By the end of this week the velvet will be flying .... LOL

I have video of a nice 3 or 4 year old mid shed walking towards my camera. Anyone know the best way to post a video here?

We got a pic a of a fully shed 8 point on Aug 27.

I always uploaded them to YouTube and posted the link here. I don't know another way.

Mister (?) Bear made an appearance again this morning. Surprising to see one twice in two months. Normally I see them once every 3-4 years.
Don't like it really. Makes me worry about damage to the cabin. Plus it might temp someone to shoot it. ("What did I do that for!?") It's not terribly large.

I used to love sleeping in the woods. Fall turkey/squirrel hunting was my favorite time of year. Walk and nap, walk and nap. A wonderful way to spend a day. Then that big bear tore the side of the house open. And my neighbor got cam pics of a big putty cat that the state says doesn't live here. And lots and lots of coyotes. And my willingness to nap was greatly reduced. 😁
