They continue to impress me

And I say that knowing Iowa will fall too. Every state gives in. They cannot risk hurting someone’s feeling or being seen as discriminating. So eventually there will be crossguns and rifles and the season will creep towards the rut. And don’t forget about the poor kids, youth seasons will be any weapon all season at some point.
States in the Midwest will eventually have 2 month gun seasons and bait and I promise a night season will happen in the next 15 years. Too much money in thermal tech to keep it out of the corrupt legislatures hands.
No where will ever get more restrictive. It only goes the other way.
You may be right but iowa hunters aren't going down without a fight. We hired our own lobbyist and went on the offensive last year. The crossbow and outtfitter guys didn't know what hit them.
I'll continue to donate a fair amount of money to this effort every year along with a lot of guys dedicated to protecting what we have. The Iowa bowhunters association along with with the iowa sportsman's club are huge. obviously Skip Sligh is priceless in this fight as well.

This makes me happy. Thats great for you guys. Most other places in the midwest have just given up. Our only organized deer group in MN might as well be the farm bureau.

The difference is Iowa is run by bow hunters (IBA) and Minnesota is run by gun hunters—MHDA. That’s it in a nutshell.

MDHA has not done a thing to improve deer hunting in Minnesota, than I can ever remember?

I think Iowa has the personalities/drive to protect the state…I’m very concerned that crossbows come into play . That will be a battle !!

If I was king for a day,,, I’d make it 1 buck per hunter state… with a potential second buck for landowners in certain counties .

Wrap up the season on January 1 so the shed bucks survive another year !

Exactly. I have never hunted another state. I have enough challenge trying to drop my target buck every year on our little slice of heaven. I may do Kansas some year, because I laws live there.

OTH, I We do care… from the standpoint that I truly do wish others states would implement regs similar to Iowa to improve their hunting and take some pressure off our state.

Except people are only proposing that they punish IA residents as retribution for IA protecting the resource for it's residents which doesn't move the needle at actually improving the hunting in these other states.

Hey it’s not real, what you are saying is just something brought up on here , and it’s been discussed by others on different hunting sites…No one is going to their state reps and asking for this .

Just a topic of discussion.

I agree, but I think the biggest driving force in many states is what will bring in the most money from hunting permits and license. Some states like KY the budget for fish and wildlife comes from the sell of the license, so right away huge conflict. So in the other words will they make more money with Booners walking around or make more money letting everyone kill an easy deer, well they believe and probably so to let everyone shoot a dink and keep more hunters in the woods to make more money. I for one would pay twice as much to hunt to improve the quality of the hunt and they would make the same money but obviously they think I am the outlier and they are probably correct.
Your almost right in this assumption that what brings in the most money wins but it’s not money in the state coffers that matters its money in the politicians pockets that matters.

I think the KLA is hoping to affect land prices with this if it passes in the legislation. I wonder just how much of an effect it would actually have on prices.
