If you were going to try some on a mature flowering crab, where would you try it?

Just add to the outer edge of a few lower limbs?

I'm not going to put much effort into this, but might just as well try since grin is sending them.
Or just cancel the order?

Do you want to top work part of the tree to a new variety or just preserve them so you can have scions and buds to use in the future? If top working, id look for a water sprout down a mature limb. The limb could later be removed and the bud graft trained/pruned to take over that space.

I agree with CL. Probably better options than limb tips. I wouldnt toss them, life is a learning process, might as well give it a shot.
