Recommendations for Cheapish Cam

I second the browning recommendation. You can often find the older models on sale around $120, especially after the new year. I have a Browning camera running right now that is on its sixth season in the field, and it runs like a champ.
The quality difference between a mid level camera and a bottom barrel camera is astounding.

I would much rather have 1 good cam than 2 bad ones

Ya I only have 1 browning camera but it is easily my favorite. I don't remember exactly what model it is but it was one of the more expensive ones. Another bonus is it only takes 6 AA batteries and they last forever it seems. I bought my father a mid range browning and he's had nothing but problems with it. I guess you'll have that with everything though. His cheap, old wildgame cameras still work after 10 years. Trail cameras take a lot of abuse from the weather. I'm surprised they last as long as they do.

Got the browning up and running last night behind my house..it has delivered so far..set it in rapid fire mode to take sets of 5 pictures every .3 seconds after being triggered..got a few pictures at night and they were very clear thanks for the recommendations

If you want to REALLY get blown away...

switch to a really large SD card (new brownings will accept up to 256gb cards so long as they are SDXC versions) and set that thing on the highest setting for video. I have become addicted to video, and am slowly buying 128 gig cards as they go on sale at Amazon. $20 regular priced, sometimes get them for $16-17. With that kind of size card, and how good Browning cams are with battery usage... you could easily get a month on a heavily used food source, or 3-4 months on a normal trail setup.

Anybody ever try a Campark? It has wifi built into the camera so all you need to do is download an app and then you can download the pictures without physically going and getting the card out of the camera. It's $99 on amazon. It's pretty highly rated as well.

I had a guy on craigslist that I bought used cuddebacks from. Not sure what he used them for but he said they were never outdoors and he used the timelapse functions. I like them because they'll take a picture and then a video. It's nice if there is a buck chasing a doe because you get a pic of a doe and then a video of the buck running past. Anyway he'd sell me 2 for $80 but he wasn't on there this year.

My favorite camera is a Browning dark ops. It takes really nice pics but it was pricey. The drawback is the picture/video files are huge and I can't email them or post them anywhere.

Wanted to give a follow up to the Campark. Overall it seems to be a pretty good camera. The wifi wasn't what I'd hoped it would be. You have to be awfully close to be able to download the pics. Next year I might use it for my security camera pointed at the entrance to the property. I keep it about 10 ft up in a tree and it would be nice to not have to climb up on the bumper to pull the card. The camera seems well built. It's pretty heavy compared to most cheap cameras. The daytime pics and videos are really good I think. The night pics are so so. Nighttime is a pretty narrow field of view.

They have cheaper versions I might try out. A 16 MP for 59.99 and 16 MP mini for 39.99. Both highly rated on Amazon.

I also bought a Wosports camera last year. Cheap camera $35. Pictures aren't the best but I wasn't expecting much for that amount of money. It worked pretty good though. The only problem I had was I put it on a 3 pic burst and the 3rd pic was always corrupted and couldn't be viewed.
