Privacy mirror film

Has anyone tried using privacy mirror film on their box blind windows? If so, how did it work out — was it worth the effort?
My father has to move around quite a bit due to hip and back pain, and the large windows in his blind make it easy for deer to spot even small movements. I’ve already added thin camouflage drapes, but he still keeps getting busted. I’m thinking about trying the one-way mirror (privacy) film on a couple windows to help cut down on him getting silhouetted. Curious if anyone here has had good results with it.

Are the windows behind him completely blacked out? I have black curtains behind me and I can get away with murder even with the front windows open.

No, just the thin camouflage curtains. He is pretty set about being able to see out of all sides

Put a black curtain over each window and only open that as needed. If the deer can see through the blind, they will see you move every time

Years ago at work I took some black "mesh" (it was more perforated than mesh) landscape cloth I'd found and made a 7'x10' curtain for our shop windows. From inside you could see out just fine. Outside looking in it was just blacked out.

I would be concerned that the privacy tint windows would have bad sun glint off them at times. I agree heavy black out curtains on the side your not anticipating deer coming from the black mesh might work as well. I love to see everywhere I want to see, but you arent going to shoot anything if they can see you, your Dad will just have to come to grips with that part.

I tested out privacy tint on one blind window one time but quickly took it off. It darkened my view out the window which I didn’t want. The best hunting typically is first or last light, so I didn’t want my view out to be worse at that time. Now, I just have black curtains on all windows but open ones I expect to shoot out of.

Also, if you have a window open to shoot out of, they can silhouette you with just the tinted windows if you don’t have a curtain up.

This is what I do. But trying to get dad to cover his big windows is a challenge.

I completely agree with the dark curtains and opening only as far as needed. That is what I do. I am trying to find alternatives to this to make the old man happy, he may only have a couple years left hunting. I thought a good alternative Maybe the Privacy mirror. Like the ghost blinds they make. But put it on the windows of the Box blind. Has anyone else tried the Privacy mirrors on the windows?

They make windows to big. I just spray paint them smaller. You're probably not going to win. I smile when someone gets in a ground blind and opens every window. Have also used landscaping cloth with magnets and washers stapled to the corners. Then you can open a corner to look out if need be.

Try one window first. Wherever he usually sits in the blind, hang one curtain on the window immediately behind him with respect to where the most action occurs. Eliminating some high percentage of silhouette by trying one curtain is worth a shot. If it leads to an increase in success for him it would totally be worth it. If he's like my dad, he'll hate it just because its new. But if he sees success with it he may adjust his attitude toward it.
