Are you familiar with CTE? It's a stain on football and the very sad reality is many of these players will leave the sport with brain damage that makes life very difficult. I have no issue with taking small steps to try to mitigate some of the serious injuries.

It's a contact sport. Not going to debate it. They are aware of this risks and they do it willingly.

In the other careers, i'm typically not asking them to do little things to increase their risk of brain damage or other injuries so i can have a shred of additional entertainment.

Football players all know the risks. Especially now a days. Players have been concussed, broken limbs, paralysed, even killed on the field. They all know it's a risk suiting up. They get paid a shit ton to risk it and they willingly and happily take it( the money and the risk!!)

A good fight, yes. A dirty hit (boarding), no. So i'm definitely a little hypocritical here. Its just that the little things like kickoffs - I don't give a shit about kickoffs. I don't feel like i'm missing some big part of the game with kickoff changes. So if some little things can be done to improve player safety without impacting my enjoyment of the game, complaining about it feels like looking for an excuse to complain.

No biggie with kick stuff it's just one play that could give a team a chance for some quick points and sometimes it could turn a game around is why I like the old ways. Remember Reggie bush ran 3 back on the vikes in one night. Love a good contact sport but don't want to see anyone get hurt either. By now with all the modern advances you'd think they could have enough cushion and padding to reduce most injuries.

A couple years ago there was a study that showed drastically higher amounts of concussions from soccer than football
Don't hear anyone whining about that? People can get hurt doing literally everything and anything at anytime, we just don't get paid millions to do it.

Remember before the "fair catch" rules?.....when the punt returner would become dead meat. That was exciting football. Funny nobody got killed.

I saw an interview where they asked Tim Brown whether he preferred returning kickoffs or punts. He said “neither.”
