I have never processed a Galarina but fresh off the tree I like the taste. Seems like they are a little tart but tasty. Also still alive after 25 years with no spray speaks for itself.

One of the gents on here posted pics of his Galarina in N.Y. State holding apples in December. Can't remember who it was - might have been Apple Junkie. Evidently it holds longer up here in northern areas? Notable differences in ripening / holding times north to south. Hope it's good for you gents in warmer areas.

Like hearing the good repots of it. Sounded like a great tree from 2 years ago, so I put 3 of them in. ONly tree I have 3 of at home. Got one at the farmland I hunt too.
Not a hint of disease issues so far.
Hows the skin on the apple? Thick, thin, seperates easy from flesh? I probably won't process it myself either because of the smaller size. However, I have yellow jacket issues and prefer thicker skin apples, and ones that are not red either.

I'm not well-versed on the relative thickness or thinness of apple skin, so I'm no help there. But Galarina has been a good wildlife tree for us. Good DR tree.

June apples on May 31. Saw the deer eating them and walked over and picked these up.

Yes, Striped June. They are starting a little early this year. It is usually about June 10 when they start falling.

They are okay, but I generally will eat only about two or three of them and I don’t want any more. My son likes them a little better than I do. I started out at my farm with three grafted paw paws, and all three died, but all three came back from the roots. So, mine are not improved varieties. I did have two improved varieties at home, but I didn’t like them much better. Both of them lived a few years and died. Those at the farm are growing like they are on steroids.

I’m currently getting a gallon of blackberries a day, have 6 gallons in the freezer and have given away and/or eaten 2.5 more gallons.

Going to do a cobbler tomorrow.
These are cultivated varieties. Most are Arapaho and Ouachita, which were planted 2 years ago. I just planted Prime Ark Freedom last year and starting to get a few of those too.

That new farm I bought a couple years ago has quite a number of pawpaw groves on it but I can’t say I like them at all at least the couple I’ve tried in the last couple years. Even though I don’t care for them I still have tried to open the canopy around those groves to get them to produce more fruit for the critters.

They will do well without any watering, but since they are planted next to my garden, I do give them a shot of water occasionally when I water the vegetables.
Lots of mulberry pie at our place. They aren’t my favorite. I think they are too soft and sweet. But, they are about the first berries available in the year so we use them.

This was only planted last year. It’s my favorite variety so far - Prime Ark Freedom. This is after I have already picked a few times.
I planted five kiowa, five big daddy, and ten Prime Ark Freedom this year. Half the Prime Ark Freedom have died. All the other varieties are doing great. You would think a variety named after Arkansas would do well here - but not mine.
