Mile-a-Minute

Originally a midwest mapping system but now nation wide for invasives, a pretty cool tool for showing distribution of invasives nationally, state to state and down to the county levels. MAM is in its inventory of invasives....

So Good news/Bad news

I made it to one of the release sites this AM. The place used to be covered up with MAM. I only found three small patches along the road. Depending on purpose that's good for the environment but bad for finding beetles.

I wasn't equipped with the right stuff to collect beetles and if I was I don't know that I could collect enough from those 3 spots to make a differance. I only shook 3 beetles out total.

Still have some spots to check out when I get more time.

They do appear to be killing what's there.

I found a few that had dead leaves, too.
It's making me think that maybe I'm in the early stages of beetles establishing. I sure hope so...fingers crossed.

@cavey that's a pretty interesting site. Thanks for sharing.

I spoke with the state biologist and he went by my spot in NJ on Friday and saw my mam, and weevils, so no need to release any, just need patience and let them chew their thing.
