Made it to the farm today

I always get 1/2 of what I set out to do at the farm. How do your sugar beets do in Mo.
 
Things take twice as long as planned, so I plan on accomplishing half as much and then look for more work to do after what was "planned" is done! That is an advantage I have of living on the property though and not everyone has that luxury.

Burning isn't as bad as some make it out as long as you are prepared and use your head.....which I seldom do either of. Final result looks real good. Now the wait....wait for rain, and then the wait for germination......
 
Cleaning up today, hit the road in n the morning.

I did install a high tech remote weed monitoring system though.

Well - that's pretty slick. That's one way to keep an eye on things. I am so glad I live on my property.....I can't imagine the issues and PITA of being a long distance landowner would be.

I would love to have this at home I can only imagine how nice it is to be able to run out and do something after dinner.
I've got 100 acres at home that gets "almost" ignored by me. I let a friend and his wife, plus my father in law hunt it.
MO spoiled me. But with family and grandchild back east I don't ever see this as home. Even though to me it is...
Not complaining about the distance yet. I know I'm lucky to be able to what I do.

That is still a pretty cool monitoring system. I can see something like that as nearly a necessity.

Damn kids are giving me shit - for "talking" to you over the computer......we are in a hotel, as we have my son's graduation from college later today......same number of kids, in an even smaller amount or real estate..... I may just leave them all in Ohio!!!!!

My kids refer to my deer forums as "deer porn" sites!

I told the 2 youngest that you would be picking them up in about 8 hours to go back to Jersey......that didn't go over real well. My 13 year old in particular had some choice words on the matter!!! Man, her mother must have a potty mouth to learn to talk like that!!!!!

They were all excited to come to stay for the night in Ohio and now "they are bored". Imagine that! Well at least the hotel has good wifi and they can entertain themselves with their electronic do-dads. I just want to get back home to the "sticks". I hate any sort of city.......

They would hate the ride with me. But once there they'd warm up to the idea when my wife took them to beach and spoiled em

Oh they like being spoiled.....and they like the beach. Keep talking it up and I may send them to you UPS. Don't worry....I'll put air holes in the boxes and mark them "fragile"!

Funny I haven't looked it up. But on my short ride home. I was listening to anything on the radio. Talk radio of any kind except sports. The post office actually had to change its rules way back when, to not accept children as mail.

I'd love to mail a few few snowflakes these days. :). Destination safe space! In Russia.

I understand. I tell folks all the time....."show me another country in the world where other people are trying so hard to get in to!!!" It's easy to leave this country....these folks think it's so bad here.....leave! Just denounce your citizenship and don't come back!!!!
 
Brother, you have a whitetail paradise going on there. I'm always amazed at the big deer you have, and these pictures show a lot of why that is.

Yea I guess I may morph it into that. I need to take some deliberate pics and not just ones when I happen to be there or doing something.

Here is a quick vid of some of my edge feathering. Again, I was there and it was an after thought so it's not the best.
In many field edges I've cut the larger trees down and pushed them in with the front end loader. Make steering deer easier and builds edge. Lots of brush an blackberries in the regen.

 
I like the idea of edges growing back with blackberries, goldenrod, sumac and such things. Good for all critters.
 
Since this has turned into my land tour thread I thought I'd share some pics of the bed and breakfast. It's starting to wake up now. 80 acres of lightly seeded switch grass, clover and weeds. I like to mow them paths through the grasses. Lots of paths that all end up down to one that goes right past a ladder stand...

If I showed you an Aerial photo of this 80 acres you'd swear it's not deer ground. But come November it's a meca. Kicked a doe up on the way out and she ran right down one of the paths I had mowed earlier. Evil :)

Deer like mowed paths here at our camp too, Bill. Funny how those paths seem to get routed right near ladder stands ..............:emoji_smiling_imp:
